I'm back from London. Still a little bit tired...a virus stuck me by Monday afternoon. I’m soon recovered.

I had a great week. Although I didn't follow the schedule I had planned.

On Monday I went to the local club in Colchester.
Nice people but not the most advanced dancers. I felt like a queen....a nice feeling compared to what I usually feel. I had a very rich experience when I danced with a guy missing one arm. He was the king of the floor although his patterns was a bit simplified. I had no problems to follow him. He had developed the perfect way of leading with only one arm. He was so pleased when I did his most complicated patterns at the very first try. He was great!

There was a very warm and friendly atmosphere. I really liked the teachers and all the guests I met. I danced all the time!

A lot of walking that day had made my feet full of blisters. No I hadn’t new shoes - but I hadn’t used them för two months. I could dance without problems.

On Wednesday I went for Blue Ruby and Leon Rose.
Leon was stuck in Italy so I didn't see him. Advanced class was on-2 so I had the intermediate. 8 girls and 2 guy....not much of dancing in that class. The teacher - a girl - taught us all a very very sexy shine so it was worth every penny anyhow.

I was happy to find out that I can do a lot of stuff I havn't been able to do for a while because of my herniated disc. For example "butt pushup".

Great dancing after the class though there wasn't much people staying. Two really good guys and one too much in love in his own shines

On Friday my classmates and I moved into London.

Salsafriends convinced me to go for Hackney Central in the evening.
Great salsaclass with Mr Smooth. Great dancing. A bit scary neighborhood. Or perhaps it was the guards that scared me up. At the door they checked every inch of my pockets and handbag. They said there was a lot of trouble in that area but not inside the club. I felt very secure inside the club and met a lot of nice people.

One of the “co-teachers” had a footwork exercise at the end. He played around with the timing. Great fun….really inspiring. I just loved it!

My friends didn't arrive in time. I had to take the last train back home at 11.45 without seeing them. I guess it was worth the long trip although.

But on my way home I took the train in wrong direction at Stratford. I switched train at the second stop. When I finally arrived at Piccailly it was the last train that night. I shudder when I think about what might have happened if I had been stcuk in an eastern suburban of London.

On Saturday my classmates and I walked from Piccadilly to Tate modern.
Nice weather but blisters much worse :(. In the evening I went for Titos at London Bridge. A nice cuban club but with a very slippery floor. I felt like Bambie on ice in my leather soles. Suede was still too slippery. I guess rubber soles would have been great.

The audience was mostly Cubans. A typicall latino-party-place. Here I finally met someone I knew and we had a few dances. One of my favs actually. Great  But much too soon I had to take the last train back to the hostel. I almost felt like Cinderella when I ran away in my suede shoes at 11.58. (But I got big feet, had two pairs of shoes in my bag and lost no one )

So I danced salsa four times. A lot of new experiences and new impressions. Next time I will try to go with a friend so I can relax more easily. A lot of my energy was spoilt on finding my way to new places, taking care of myself and "not missing last train". I never found out how the night busses worked in London

The main purpose of the travel (no it was not salsa) was English classes in Colchester. We learnt a lot "idiomatic expressions", "advanced" phrases and business English. Really great teachers. On Thursday we celebrated Robert Burns night and had haggis and whiskey. On Wednesday we had tea with the Mayor of Colchester + a guided tour in the city hall with him and his wife. A very very nice couple.

My hostess was great. I stayed at a young girl who also danced salsa. I lived like a princess ...but with blisters all over my feet.

I will try to go back as soon as possible.

What a great trip you had, L! A little adversity, a little danger, and lots and lots of salsa!

Thanks for sharing!
