Hi everyone! I had a customer ask me if we had anything bronze to give to her husband for her anniversary. And we of course don't, because we really don't even carry stuff like that. What we sell is more like home accessory items from vases to pillows to candles etc. and other types of accessories you know like jewelry etc. But I got to thinking about that, and I'm like I wouldn't even know what to get. I've never celebrated an anniversary (even though I could have, but I guess I don't care either way personally).
So, what do you give to a husband and/or wife, and or SO on an anniversary? She asked me for ideas, and I was like I don't really know. A friend of mine said that she gave her husband an engraved piece of jewelry that he never wears lol. In that regards, do you want to stick with traditional gifts on the important dates, or practical gifts? I'd probably go with practical myself, but what would you guys and gals do?

I have given my boyfriend tickets to shows before, like he's favorate bands. Also I have given him a ring. Some people (depending on how long they have been together) have given thier husbands a year membership to a club where he gets too rent really expensive cars for a weekend every month. I donno, I usally go with praticle, becouse if its not pratcile then a guy wont use it. Girls like the superficle stuff. :together:

We mostly give each other gift certificates now. Like massage certificates, facial certificates. But for our 10th anniversary my husband surprised me with a trip to Venice.

Beats the heck out of me. I can never think of anything. The one time I thought of something cool (completely surprise trip to Las Vegas for a long weekend), I blew it and used it for his 29th birthday. That was it...used up all of my creativity for more than a few years worth of gift-giving holidays.

Yeah see that's how I feel about gifts and guys. I feel as though if they aren't going to use it, then why buy it? But I also don't like the idea of giving them something that is a keepsake if you are just in the dating phase. I know this may sound silly, but I would give the guy that I dated for four years the latest computer stuff. We wouldn't spend that much money on ourselves even though we could have. But see, he's head of a major corporate IS office in town, and that's all he ever wanted was the latest software and things like that. He would just buy me jewelry. But he would up it, like one year it was 12kt, the next 14kt, the next 18kt. You know that type of thing. But that was it, and we were fine with it lol! ;)

i sure don't want any keepsake crap cluttering up my space... bronze, schmonze... ick
jewelry... beautiful pashmina... exotic handbag... travel... dinner & show... day at the spa...
all things that will either give me years of pleasure from using, or years of wonderful memories... :)

The only gift that I gave my ex-hb that he actually LIKED was for Father's Day the year we separated: I bought him seasons 1-4 of Seinfeld. He hated everything else I ever gave him. But he really liked Seinfeld....

I suck at this. A lot. Anytime my boyfriend mentions wanting anything, he always just goes and buys it before a gift-giving occasion occurs.
We had a little chat about this in December.
"Ok, I just bought your Christmas gift, so you are not allowed to shop for yourself between now and Christmas!"
I really tend to suck at the gift-giving to guys, though. Girls are easy - if it's soft, or shiny, or pretty, or useful, or smells good, it usually works.
It's a crap shoot for the boys.

Thanks. I enjoyed it almost as much as he did. I bought him seasons 5-6 for our anniversary in Sept of that same year - I figured I'd milk the "good gift" for as long as I could - then we split in Nov. of that year so now he has to buy his own reruns.

Bronze? Suggest something and say just get some bronze spray paint and change it so it is bronze. ;-)

I bought tickets for my whole family to see Seinfield live. So, the 1-4 season was a good choice, because I noticed in my family that the guys seemed to like Seinfield a whole lot more than the girls even though the girls did like him lol if that makes sense lol! ;)

Now why didn't I think of that??? As desperate as this woman was... she might have gone for it.

I just love Seinfeld. I bought myself the DVDs. I love watching it. The characters are so real. Kramer is my favorite :) .

I think I'm one of the few that haven't seen a full episode. But I do love Jerry's comic routines. They are full of good humor. He doesn't have to add all the other stuff to do that. ;)
