Aside from questions about steps and techniques, the most common question dancers seem to be asking is "What popular songs can be used for (insert name of dance here)?" This question gets asked quite often in these forums.

I listen to lots of dance music and with a library of nearly 1,000 songs I also have a database listing the best ones with additional information to make it easier for me to choose the ones I want. Since it wasn't that hard to put this database online, I decided to create a new site using the database info as the foundtion.

DanceSportMusic.com is a new Web site that lists the best popular music available for DanceSport. It covers the ten dances that make up the official IDSF International curriculum:

Latin:
- Cha Cha Cha
- Jive
- Paso Doble
- Rumba
- Samba

Standard:
- Quickstep
- Slow Foxtrot
- Tango (still being compiled)
- Waltz (still being compiled)
- Viennese Waltz

Links are provided to song details including album cover, tempo, comments and lyrics. Additional links let you preview the music at the iTunes Music Store or Dance Plus, allowing you to effortlessly buy the music you like best.

The site features stunning dance photography by Thomas Billingsley, provided courtesy of Thomas and DanceSport BC, the governing body for IDSF DanceSport competition in BC, Canada.

Visit the site at http://www.dancesportmusic.com/

I invite the folks here to submit ideas using the song suggestion form as new songs come along. Please limit them to the ten dances I'm covering, as I don't plan to move into other dance forms anytime soon (too much work).
