I want to purchase some good quality dance instructional video for Latin and International dances for Bronze, Silver and Gold, either used or new. I have been looking at the Dance Vision series but I am unsure if this the best way to go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello there - welcome to DF!!!
I recently purchased Slavik & Karina's basics series, and quite pleased with the content.
Have owned a Corky & Shirley Ballas video in the past also, that was good to work with also.
You may want to see if you can either borrow a DVD / video or two, or watch some at a competition (sometimes vendors play instructional tapes / DVDs) to see who you like. Also, your coach / instuctors at the studio may have suggestions for you.
Good luck, and once again, welcome to the Forum!

You can get some used videos on Ebay for a decent price. I have bought and sold quite a few that way. frequently I sold them a year or 2 later for what I paid foir them. So it is pretty economical. Dance vision has very good videos. They have a very diverse selection, so make sure what you buy matches your needs.

Thanks Guys! I am glad to see that I am looking in the right direction - Dance Vision. I will look up each of your suggestions. If you are selling any drop me a line as I would be interested in purchasing them.
My instructor isn't too keen on me using the videos however sometimes after class I am confused about the certain figures, I find watching the figure on the video and practicing it correctly the figure becomes solid in muscle memory. I have previously "thought" I was executing a figure correctly and practiced it for the week only to find out during the next lesson that it was incorrect. Once it is "solid" in memory it's a hard habit to break.
Once again, Thank you

Tangotime, do you have the actual titles for those Hilton videos? I couldn't seem to find anything that fit your description. I would be interested in buying those. Thanks!

I believe that the name of Hilton video is "Ballroom Light and Shade" produced by Hearn & Spencer LTD.

Hi Friskyphysics and welcome to DF! It's nice to see another Ontario resident here.
Since you're in Mississauga, check out Dance Plus when you get a chance. They're at Islington and The Queensway in Toronto. They carry the Dancevision DVDs in stock and you can preview them to see if they're what you're looking for before you buy them. You can check them out online at danceplus.com

Bryan and Karens "Back to Basics" series is a bit dated but cant be beat in terms of video instructions of fundamental technique. Slavik and Karina's "Dancing with Passion" has the complete syllabus but far less in terms of technique.

That is very interesting. Bryan and Karen have the technique & Slavik and Karina have the syllabus. Geez....would be nice to have both! I guess I will have to look at both of them because dance is a "whole" package.
