I need a WC song for a showcase routine... nothing horribly fast because we want time to do a lot of neat things. We would prefer something newer and ideally with a hip hop/pop/r&b feel to it. Any suggestions??? Also it would be nice to have a song that is energetic and exciting to listen to, not down tempo and relaxed...
Thank you for your help!!!!! :notworth:

Soul Kid #1 - (More Bounce In) California

This is a common song at WCS dances.

"Buttons" by The *****cat Dolls has a solid rhythm and a good speed but there's not a whole lot to play with.

"...Baby One More Time" has a good rhythm and a lot to play with but may allienate some of the audience.

"Kiss Me" isn't as sexy as most west coast songs - and doesn't really feel like a traditional west coast though it works quite well - but it can be very romantic.

"Magic Dance" by David Bowie has a very challenging intro rhythm (4, 8, 8, 8, 4) but is ridiculously fun.

"Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy," by Big and Rich is probably my favorite west coast song. It's fun, it's playful, has a great rhythm, and some perfect breaks for styling. The country element may turn some people off.

Other modern songs that work:
"My Humps," by The Black eyed Peas
"Promiscuous," by Nelly Furtado
"Say You'll Be There," by the Spice Girls
"Toxic," by Britney Spears
"Me & U" by Cassie
"Me Against the Music," by Britney Spears and Madonna
"Yeah!" by Usher
"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley
"One, Two Step," by Missy Elliot and Ciara
"Lady Marmalade," from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

What about glamorous, or JT's new ones? Also listen to older BEP stuff, if you want hip hopish. I would also suggest listening to some pink. Her stuff is never played, but its an awesome feel. Ill think about it today

Nelly Furtado's Say It Right is my current favorite. Anything produced by Timbaland would work for you - love his beats!

Heard a band call Bif Naked who had a few really kewl songs that would be great WCS songs. They're on iTunes. I really liked 'Abandonment.' Somewhat reminiscent of Kelly Clarkson at times. 'Everyday' is nice too, if you like a slower song. Most of what I liked came from the 'Superbeautifulmonster' CD. I like finding new (to me) music.

I also like Buttons, Don' Cha, and Promiscuious but that doesn't give you many options for breaks and accents.

A popular contemporary competition song is Trick Daddy - Sugar, LOTS of breaks and accent options.

It's not really contemporary, but this remix has an awesome r&b beat: The Rolling Stones - Miss You (Dr Dre Remix 2002) off the Austin Powers Goldmember soundtrack. One of my favorite WCS songs to practice to.

I dance to Akon - Smack That. Lots of accent and break options. Might be too explicit though!

Couple other options:

Sexyback - Justin Timberlake
Tilt Ya Head Back - Nelly & Christina Aguilera

I think I just died a little seeing all these song choices. :( Granted they are in line with the request but still :(
