Does anyone know what they call that thing wrapped around the men's neck like a frilly tie of some sort? I've seen them on the man's costume when they do the viennese waltz. Can anyone help? I would like to wear that instead of the humbug white tie for my viennese exhibition. thanks in advance.

if it is the nectie like clothing that lookes pleated, it's called a cravat. i'm not sure that it is the terminology in vogue in shops etc though.

Once I saw Christopher Hawkins doing VW in a shirt equipped with this neck thing, so I bought one from International Male. You can also find it in eBay sometimes. It's variously called as Poet's Shirt, Pirates Shirt, Renissance Shirt, Gothic Shirt, etc.

What I want to know is what kind of neck tie is Scott Hastings wearing in the Paso Doble at the end of Strictly Ballroom? I like that and would like to see if I can pick one up.

It looks like that he is wearing a regular wing-tip tuxedo shirt and a gambler tie over the shirt. Didn't Clark Gable wore a similar tie in the movie "Gone with the Wind"? In any case, I have bought this kind of ties in Civil War stores and Western apparel stores. By the way, didn't the father of Scott's partner wear the neck thing we have been talking about.

I think he wore a lot of ruffled shirts. I think it was more due to Antonio's flamenco background than anything. And when he would wear a vest over it, it would have that ruffled cravat look to it. I was looking at thetuxxman auctions on eBay and he is selling some cravats and shawls for men. Some look really good.

Unless we are talking about different movies, I don't see a stitch of ruffle on his shirt. he was wearing regular standard wing-tip dance shirt that Chrissane sells with Hawkins as a model. I've been studying his costume carefully becasue I am having my Paso jacket made exactly like his for my Philly competition.
