Ok, let's just say that you had a teacher (of any kind) that you didn't like. So, you contemplated switching to a more interesting, prosperous class. Only one catch; your <insert person you know here> has just bought you a very expensive, shiny <thing to assist you in the class you don't like>. What would you do; switch, but risk hurting that persons feelings, or not switch and regret it? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

ummm.... what? is there a reason you must remain cryptic? How covert is this?

can the shiney thingy be returned?
can you use it for anything else?
how close are you to the giver? ... would they understand?
are you sure this is a class you don't want to tough out?... is better for you in the long run or something?

information is key ;)

oh yeah... forgot to mention

just be honest--- with everyone including yourself-- I find it ultimately all works out the best that way.

I'm assuming that I cannot use the thing that was bought for me in the other class, so it is something quite different. I would switch!! No question about it. Every moment of our lives is precious. It is too precious not to do things and then live with the regret afterwards. If I was willing not to switch and was happy/satisfied with that choice then that is fine. But, since I am already thinking I will regret not doing it even before I commit, then I should. Now, how the switch is done, and how I let the person know what is transpiring, is an entirely different matter. The blow can be softened depending on how it is delivered.

I've run out of hypotheticals now. I used them all up creating the scenario deciding to switch!! Time for others to take over how they would break the news to this "person" that they have decided to switch.
