I am new to this site. However, I have been browsing for a bit and decided to introduce myself. I started with the International style of Ballroom Dance and after two years and a Bronze Medal in both Standard and Latin, I made the move to the American style of Ballroom Dance.

All together, I guess I have been involved in Ballroom Dance for almost 12 years. Still love to dance both International and American styles.

Thanks,

Gordon

Welcome to DF Jiver, glad you decided to introduce yourself and participate on the forums. Look forward to seeing you on the boards.

Do you compete and/or social dance?

Hello Jiver,
I am new too. I am not as advanced as most-probably a bronze II right now. Have had to start/stop due to family illnesses.

Welcome!

So you like my avatar....it took me forever to figure out how to upload it. Finnally got it! I thought being from Orlando, a grandma and a little pleasantly plump, it just fit.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I competed in the American Rhythm style which includes, as some are aware, Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Mambo and Bolero. I also competed in the American Smooth style which includes the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz.

I have performed for charities, company functions and weddings. I have retired from competition and performances to concentrate on passing on my dance skills and knowledge to others.

I believe that steps are quite simple to learn, however, the execution of these steps are important and frustrating as the students advances in their lessons. I also take Physics into consideration on my lessons.

Overall, my emphasis is on a relaxed and fun approach to lessons for my students. I try to cater to my students needs and goals, if the goals are known.

I hope I have given those interested a glimpse of a part of my Ballroom Dancin life.

Thanks,

Gordon
