I tried to revive an old thread, but my message kept getting erased, so I am starting a new thread. Apologies for a repeat of the topic.
I will be in Glasgow this weekend. Just checked out www.salsaholics.org (http://www.salsaholics.org) and see that there is salsa at Classic Grand on Saturday and Tiger Tiger on Sunday. Does anyone have a review on these places? What is the predominant style? and will I be able to dance on2 at either place?
Will anyone from DF be there?
Thanks!

Cuban is the predominant style in Glasgow. You may find some crossbody on1 dancers there, but on2 is rarely seen in Glasgow. The music will be heavily biased towards timba at both venues as both events are run by Cuban style schools. If you like on2, you should consider travelling to Edinburgh on Sunday night for Salsa Lounge @28 York Place (and maybe also Los Salseros@Cuba Norte) -- there are very few leaders who can dance on2 in Scotland, and most of them are in Edinburgh.

Azzey will probably be at both places. I might go through to Glasgow on Sunday for Tiger Tiger before getting back to Edinburgh for Salsa Lounge and Cuba Norte.

Hi Bailando,
Yes, I'll likely be at Classic Grand on Saturday. Getting a little bored of Cuban all the time at the moment so it'll be nice to dance cross-body! I only dance on1, though I would like to learn on2. It's on my list but I'm getting seduced by Lambada in London at the moment.
This Saturday will (hopefully) be on the 2nd floor in the NY style club/bar where it is cooler, brighter and more room to dance than the 1st floor.
The DJ's who are also teachers (Cuban style) also play some PR, NY and Colombian Salsa to mix things up. If you're looking for Mambo, the Salsa Lounge is your place.
On Sunday I'll probably be going to some Afro-Cuban workshops in Edinburgh's Dancebase and then on to the Salsa Lounge for cross-body dancing. FYI, Tiger Tiger will be 100% Cuban. You can hop over to Edinburgh via train or bus. It's pretty cheap and the Salsa Lounge is conveniently located in a private members club opposite the Bus station. As it's run by teachers they only ask for a voluntary contribution on entrance.
About me - I've been dancing for 5 years, dance different styles seperately - PR on1 (smooth), LA on1 (zippy), Cuban, Bachata, Reggaeton etc. So just because you don't see any cross-body dancers doesn't mean we aren't there.
PM me if you want to meet up.
