OK, folks...here's a question and a challenge, of sorts. I was thinking about dancing notation and learning from scripts having bungled my way through a bunch of notation...so, how many of you are well versed enough in dancing scripts to learn a completely new dance from scratch only by using a script? Otherwise, how many of you are confident enough to do it (or have done it)?
As someone who needs to see the moves before I dance, I find it incredible that some very talented dancers have the seemingly impossible ability to simply pick up notation and learn a dance. Admittedly they won't have the technique and, perhaps, even understand the music that should accompany it, but who can do it?
If you want to test it out yourself (let us know how you go), here's a link (http://www.dancesport.org.au/newvogue/) to a bunch of New Vogue (uniquely Australian, sequenced dances, which you're unlikely to be familiar with) that you might just want to test your mettle against! ;)
The Gypsy Tap is the easiest, Barclay Blues the hardest and La Bomba and Tangoette the most fun if you like the Tango rhythm.
