The first place I'd look is the "User Ranks Manager" in the Admin Control Panel. If you find "Diety" in there, just change it.

I have to protest that I have been demoted to Dance Deity, when I used to be a Pygmalion. Since I spent a couple years of my life working to build this site, I got used to the privilege. It never occured to me that my contribution would be downgraded after I left.


I thought the plan was that folks who achieved a certain level of posts would get to choose their own deity/name. I'm pretty sure that's what was documented in the login name threads. So hey. What's up?

The issue, as I understand it, is that the software can only accept one "title" per posting level. I'll have to check with David to see if there's another way to go...

From my quick perusal of the vBulletin docs, it looks like the easiest thing to do would be

a) as an admin, go to the user edit page and simply add the selected deity name for the poster to the "Custom User Title" field
This should display as
Username
chosen title

Alternatively you could do:
a) Leave the User Title for 20K posts as "Dance Deity"
b) Create a separate usergroup, one per honored poster, that uses a "User Rank" with text set equal to the chosen name. This is probably near identical to how you've setup the special Ranks for SDSalsaGuy.
This would end up displaying as
Username
Dance Deity
Chosen Deity Name

being without a title at your level of posts reminds me of the $208 t-shirts i found at girbaud in soho, with the special design feature on the inside & therefore invisible, whilst being quite pedestrian on the outside... only the wearer & those "in the know" were hip to what it really was...

you could go title-less... but then newbs would forever be asking you about that.

I think it would be a mistake for me to take any title here overly seriously, ... I was not here at the inception...to the extent that anyone here has benefitted, that is enough for me and I have personally benefitted more from folks with far fewer posts than I ...titles based on post counts are much the same as being top student...they may mean something or they may not...anything I do of value here has very little to do with my public posting and I often find the title to be more of a hinderance than a help...and certainly, the only reason I was even given the title was to "un-pygmalian" me at my own request b/c when I hit 20k it automatically did...certainly if david finds the time to change pyg back to pyg that is a very good thing....I am content to have the same title as anyone else who hits 20k...
