This footage is from the 1998 Stanford Viennese Ball. Notice they are mostly dancing a 4-count swing. They make it look great though!

So maybe I should visit the swing forum for this, but all that looked like what I've heard called Lindy. What's the right nomenclature?

Ok , to get serious--it would be hard to define exactly what they were attempting-- it came close to a poorly done East coast swing .

It looks like they were all having fun and that's all that matters, IMHO...

That was never in q-- the poster asked WHAT they were doing .

Yeah, most people in the contest were dancing lindy hop. However, Chelsea and her partner danced mostly a 4-count swing with a few aerials. In social dance classes at Stanford, 4-count swing (marching tempo) is actually taught before the 6-count swing and triple steps.

Thanks, DanceScientist--it does look like they were having fun! And it's always great to see folks dancing that you wouldn't expect to see dancing.
