I dont usually vote this early on in the competition, but I'm afraid that Pasha is going to need all the votes he can get. Dancing with an older lady instead of Jessi will NOT get him the younger votes. Especially since the younger crowd doesnt particularly seem to like ballroom. I say everyone who wants to keep Pasha in the competition should vote for him this time around in the hopes of keeping him in for at least a couple more weeks.
(And maybe even throw some votes over to Danny and Anya as well)

Maybe I'm totally missing something, but what difference does it make if Pasha is dancing with an "older" woman? Unless it's someone with one foot in the grave, who gives a flying fart? If she can dance, and Pasha can bring it on, he should be fine.

I would think that dancing with Tony Meredith’s assistant would be an advantage for Pasha. They should be very good.

I agree. If anything this routine should rock. As far as Jessi's future on the show is concerned, well, we'll find out soon.

Well, I could care less because the "older" woman is probably my age....I was just speaking of the younger crowd who tend to vote for who they think is "hot" instead of who is a good dancer. It doesnt bode well that they have already referred to her as an "older" woman to begin with(which is where I got the term). I just dont see that as being a good thing for him in that regard. Sure, if you are judging him as a dancer, its an advantage, but does america in general really do that? Look at all the young pre-teen crying fans holding up signs that you see in the audience in both this show and American Idol. We know that people dont vote on talent alone. Also, as someone mentioned on the board, he wont have Jessi's fans voting for him if she's out of the competition(which we dont know yet), so unless he gets a sympathy vote or everyone who knows good dancing decides to vote, I'm just afraid he will be in the bottom 3 and that would not be fair. I certainly hope I am wrong, but just in case I am not, I will be sending votes his way just in case.

Yeah, in terms of the non-dancer votes, here's hoping Pasha is the kind of guy who can look hot no matter who he's dancing with. I think he can do it, plus he won't be held back by someone who isn't used to dancing Cha. Maybe it'll help him to work his magic even more than if he was with Jessi.
To expound on one of the theories about Pasha's possible trouble: the worry is whether or not voters vote for an individual favorite dancer as opposed to voting for the couple or voting for the dancing of the couple. The thought being that if the majority are voting only for their favorite individual dancer, that Pasha only has his fans voting for him, as compared to previously having both his fans + Jessi's fans.
I have no idea if it's true or not - just wanted to say what I've been reading. Pasha's routine should be awesome to behold. Two experienced cha cha dancers? How could it not be great? :)
Poor Jessi - I hope she's ok. (I was trying to hold off from talking about this Spoiler, but what the hey?)
My theory might come to fruition. Pasha could end up with a new partner (hopefully with a strong fan base), provided Cedric goes home. I feel bad for Jessi, though.
One question I've got - it looks (from that site Beto mentions) that Jamie might be the most popular female dancer?!? How'd that happen?
Or maybe she's just got the most vocal/posting fans.

I'm seeing another possible victim of their partner here. Jessi, if she can dance Thursday, will surely get by "dancing for her life" since she'll get their sympathy votes. (Although, last year, while with injuries some of them got out of group numbers, they all pushed themselves to to their partner routines, even Benji got himself out of the hospital so he could do his partner routine. Sliding by when you screw your partner like that shouldn't be allowed.)
Pasha, while adorable to a lot of us, doesn't strike me as the baby-faced kind of guy that will get teenage girls (the biggest voters) to vote for him. If it was about dancing, sure he'd be fine, but it's about making teenage girls love you enough to vote for you, a la Ivan last year. (Which is why I doubt we'll ever see a female winner on this show.)

And how devastating it must be to get this far and find out something is wrong with you and you have to (possibly) quit. That would totally suck.

Agree 100% with you...
Even when I get around to voting, at most I'm looking at maybe 3-5 votes. I don't have enough invested in the show to spend the entire two hour voting period dialing over and over again.

IMO, Ivan wasn't hot. Kinda cute maybe, but not hot. Must've gotten all of the "OMG he's soooo cute" votes from the tweens ;). I agree that if Jessi can pull off a killer solo she may save herself, but if it's anything like the stuff she did last week, she's a goner, and rightly so. Hope Pasha learned a lesson too. His solo was Bo. Ring. Faina phoned hers in and she's gone.
Definitely.

I would think it is his partner and wife, France Mousseau Genereaux.
She was in the backstage footage with Jean-Marc. Crayon red hair.
They have a number of titles together, they used to be in the finals at OSB for many years.
Tony Meridith is choreographing for Pasha. That's why I guessed Melanie. Though we did not see her in the audience and we did see France so maybe you're right.

I think that Pasha will be okay if he's in the bottom three this week. Because unless Cedric shocks the heck outta me and rips that contemporary routine, he'll be in the bottom three again. As for women, I agree about the injury. It's a shame, but if you can't perform, you gotta go.

I seriously doubt that Jessi's heart problem would be considered "Sliding by when you screw your partner". It's a major health issue and could end her career or even her life.
If she can dance, I doubt the judges will let her go on purely out of sympathy. I think they will judge her equally with the rest, at least I hope so.

I could see the sympathy vote being an issue if the fans got to vote after the dance-for-your-life round. But I think it's smart to do it this way for Jessi. The judges get to be a little more hard-headed about it. Remember the dancer with the ankle injury they cut during tryouts?
2 minutes to showtime! Looking forward to the show (understatement, as usual) tonight! :D

That said...Contemporary still looks like a lot of flailing about with some spins tossed in. Cedric spent a lot of time sitting, too. I am not voting for them.
Anya, now--Latin locksteps and upper-body isolation can be translated to hip-hop! That was a neat hip-hop routine.
I think since I started taking ballroom my standards have increased...the quickstep did not impress me much.

Melanie is Tony's "assistant"? Isn't that a little disingenuous?
anp73ga31
06-27-2007, 09:08 PM
They should have said, "Tony Meredith's assistant and former dance partner, Melanie" or whatever. That was just wrong to say his assistant and leave it at that. Especially since she was bailing them out by dancing with Pasha. I didnt even recognize her at first either because she looks so different...and I just watched "Dance With Me" again this week on dvd, too! Guess all the other times when he was choreographing I was looking at the competitors and not him or his "assistant" to see that it was her. She's a great dancer, but its still somewhat of a letdown to not see Pasha dancing with Jessi. I hope Jessi is alright and Pasha does not go home :( Ok, off to vote some more for Pasha(his line was so not busy earlier...not a good sign!)
I was screaming at the tv, "She's not his assistant!!!" And girl still has it!
They must want Cedric to go through, all that talk about how he shouldn't have just ensured him enough votes to stay out of the bottom 3, IMO.
I'm just adoring Jesus/Sara and Dominic/Sabra. Both couples just throw themselves into whatever they're given.
With the exception of Cedric, it's hard to pick anyone that should go home from here forward. (Of course Ivan stuck in there how long last season?) Eliminations are going to be tough to watch for the rest of the season!!
Oh, and forgot to add that I hope Jessi is ok, but I still hope she goes home (whether she's able to dance or not.)
Wade's bird number was awesome. He always comes up with something good.
Yeah, that introduction they gave Melanie was lame! They could have said "Former U.S. Latin Champion".

Ok, I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I was surprised at Melanie's dancing. I thought it would be much better. It certainly did not look like the great Melanie of old! Although it's true that the quality and execution would deteriorate after retirement, I do not expect it to go down this much. Could it be that she did not expect to perform with Pasha? She helped to choreograph the routine so she should be very familiar with it. I am still shocked.

It sounded like she only found out hours at most that she'd be dancing, since didn't Jessi collapse at the morning rehersal? Possibly she 'knew' the routine, but obviously hadn't been practicing in anticipation of dancing it.
Also, possibly, I was wondering with the way they were shooting it--she downplayed because she's not being judged and they wanted the camera focus to be on Pasha as much as possible?

I can't figure out who should go home either!!! I also am a big big Dom/Sabra fan! Such great chemistry and so genuine. I really think they are the underdogs in a way--very talented and very underrated. I just love the way the did that samba--Sabra has these beautiful long lines that just made the dance that much more beautiful. As I said before, loved the krump with Jesus and Sara. Hard, fast and furious! I would have liked to see a wee bit more battling between them but other that, just great! Hok and Jaime--Wade is off the hook!!!!! Creative, beautiful choreography that makes the most of a dancer's gifts. He must be a dancer's dream to work with!
Misses for me: I wasn't feeling Kameron and Lacey tonight--the quickstep didn't do it for me at all. However, I definitely think this competition is giving me a greater appreciation for ballroom (it isn't so popular among the hardcore salseros). ;)

Sabra did great with the rumba tonight. I was totally not expecting that from her (or from Dominic for that matter!). They did really well. Lacey and Kameron's quickstep didnt have enough quickstep in it for me, but it was a very entertaining routine and I love quickstep anyway, so I enjoyed it. I thought Anya and Danny looked good out there, though they definitely didnt dominate the show tonight. And I voted for Pasha, of course, in the hopes that he can stick around for another week so we can see him do another style and see how he does(he did so well with that jazz routine he and Jessi did last week)....
Is it tomorrow at 9 yet? lol! Hey, if I cant dance like that, then the next best thing is watching someone else do it on tv!!

It really looked to me like she was downplaying it. When they were together, she was great, but when they were separate, she was definitely letting him look good. After all, we wanted Pasha to be the frame AND the picture for this routine.

God, what a shock. If you ever saw the Melanie of old who was a slight 98 pounds and about 5foot 2, you would be squirming in you seat as I did. I couldn't believe that Melanie put herself in that situation. To being called his "assistant", was an insult. If I were her I wouldn't have done it just for that reason. It was uncomfortable all the way around. By the way Pasha didn't look all that good either. I think he is off tomorrow

Really good show. The choreographers are really outdoing each other. I've never seen choreographers in the spotlight like this on TV before SYTYCD and they are really showing us their genius.
Yeah, I was glad to see Debbie on the show and to hear her comments. She got it right about that tango.
1- Sara & Jesus - Krumping – Loved it!
Choreographer: L'il C
Krumping is now my new fave funky dance if it's choreographed L'il C style.
"They got buck!"
I'm with Nigel: "I'm not scared of krumping now. L'il C made it more accessible." ...I like that Nigel is in the know about (hip hop and krumping) and therefore can offer an educated opinion on it more so than say a Len from DwtS. Lol. Nigel is cool!
2- Shauna & Cedric - Contemporary - Just Ok due to the male lead. http://www.online-thecatsmeow.com/images/Emoticons/stink.gif
choreographer: Mia Michaels - nice of her to choreograph around Cedric but....
I agreed with the judges. Shauna was commanding.
Cedric was limited and knows it but I give him credit for his eloquent speech. I'm surprised they gave him time to say all of that.
3- Lacey & Kameron - Quick Step - Liked it overall!
choreographer: ???
4- Anja & Danny - Hip Hop - Loved it!
Choreographer: Dan Karaty
I’m not crazy about Karaty’s personality as a judge but as a choreographer
the booty backwards move by Anja, Danny’s flip, the tightrope walk, plus
the lyrical moves, added to the staccato moves won me over with this piece.
Nigel is pushing these two to a higher level.
5- Sabra & Dominic – Rumba – Good.
Choreographer: Jean Marc Genereaux (did I spell that right?)
Lovely extensions by Sabra but didn’t it need more in the
back arches and hip rolls like I see the pros do?
Mary: deserves a category all of her own for her crazy trademark screams.
I love her joie d’esprit. http://www.online-thecatsmeow.com/images/Emoticons6/lol2.gif
6- Lauren & Neil – Tango - …Didn’t like it!
Choreographer: Jean Marc Genereaux
It was too athletic for a tango. They were separated too much.
Gone were those delectable coupled tango movements and leg flicks! Sigh!
7- Jamie & Hok – Jazz/Ballet – OMG!!!!!! [:O] Wow! Oh Wow! This was Gorgeous!
Choreographer: Wade Robson
His head was moving like a bird (ballet & hip hop style) and she rose up like a flower ballet style and …and….
I’m speechless…..moved!!!!!
8- Pasha – Cha Cha Cha – He’s a talented cutie and I think should stay this week due to the situation!
Poor Jesse, what did they do, work the heck out of that girl?
I hope she gets well.

The show was great again! So entertaining and so much great dancing! I just watched the dances again and some of them again and again: Sabra & Dominique and Hok & Jaimie (both so beautiful!). And I loved Jesús and Sarah! Jesús is such a versatile dancer, last week that great paso doble, this week a completely different type of dance and very well executed. And he seems to have a great personality! On top of it all he is cute ;).
I was amazed how well Anya and Danny did with hip hop. For me as someone who really cannot judge hip hop I thought they looked good.
Cedric might not have grown in his dancing but he certainly has grown personally. He has lost his fear and shyness. He has become stronger and he is not afraid anymore. His attitude is whatever it will be he has won. I really liked what he said tonight and the way he said it. And I would be very happy for him to get a scholarship with Debbie Allen! I think that would be more to him than what he had dreamed of.
I really hope Pasha will stay in the competition! I did not know who Melanie was (I am not a ballroom dancer but yes, I did know Tony Meredith) and I did not like her dancing (but who am I to judge...), actually she irritated me and I hope she did not irritate too many voters. However, I knew she stepped in at the last minute and I thought that was great and it saved Pasha. I really would have liked to see Jessie dance, she looked in the rehearsals as if she would have done a great job and the 2 of them look really good together. I certainly hope for her that she will become well soon.
Now who should be in the bottom 3?
1. Cedric and Shauna: I thought Cedric was by far the weakest male dancer, although Shauna was great but I believe she can save herself again.
2. Neil and Lauren: Was not too impressed by their tango, especially with Neil.
And No. 3??? I have no No. 3!
Even if Jessie will be back tomorrow night, there is a possibility that she might be the one going home.
Question for Beto: Now, the show is taped on Monday. Is the results show then taped on Tuesday and shown on Thursday or is it aired live on Thursday?

The show on thursday must be taped live because the voting only starts on wednesday evening. Maybe the show is still taped thursday but isn't live - but somehow I remember them always saying that it is live (same with idol, or dwts)
The opening routine (and I believe the musical performance) are taped ahead of time. But the actual results are live.
Debbie Allen!!! *doing the happy happy dance* I love her! I can't imagine anything but her giving her honest opinion--no chaser baby!

Same here. It was nice to have here around. Great personality. At first I was worried she was going to be postitive about every routine, but then she started being a judge.
My opinion for a Bottom 3: Shauna and Cedric, Lauren and Neil, Anya and Danny (I didn't feel there any climax to it).

I knew that tango routine felt familiar. The opening has some elements from a routine performed by Massimo Giorgiani and Alessia Manfredini on the 2004 world stuperstars standard video. The similarity ends there though.
I wonder if that's why Mary made the brief comment about her looking like a former world champion. Her hair was done similarly to Alessia's in that show, and she was wearing the stereotype red dress.
Anyone who has that video should dig it out and watch Massimo and Alessia's tango - it's right near the end.

I dunno...she just seemed to gush too much and almost seemed like she tried to outshow the other judges on purpose. Not sure what I thought about her...at first she irritated me because she was so...positive and gushy. She got better once she found dancing she didnt like...she told them she didnt like it but she was nice about it. I guess it was just her long-winded gushy-ness that bothered me in the beginning. And, not to appear ignorant, but who is she? Her name sounds familiar but I can't place her(though I'm sure I probably should).

I think her big break came from her part in the movie Fame. I saw her co-host a network TV ballroom show in 2000(?) with Gary McDonald. The show pitted a number of Latin couples against eachother in a contrived, for TV, competition. It featured a dozen or so internationally ranked couples. Among them were the likes of a very young Eugene and Maria, along with Michael and Beata. The latter won, of course.
The opening routine (and I believe the musical performance) are taped ahead of time. But the actual results are live.
Correct. At least that's what I have read online. I believe a few hours separate the opening routine and musical guest from the actual results show.
In season 1, the results show was taped a day or two prior to the actual airing so we'd know who left the show at least 24 hours ahead of time and that info would wind up online. Guess the producers got smart about that.

As Mary said, Quickstep always causes a problem for couples on this show. That was the best Quickstep I can recall on this program.
Did you happen to watch season 1? Artem did a much better Quickstep than that with his partner (Melissa maybe?).

Turns out that was in July of 1998 (7/26 to be exact)!
I'm thinking it might have been recorded at an actual comp. It was taped at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell MA, USA. Anyone know more about that show?

I remember it. It was its own stand alone event if i recall correctly, and not associated with any other competition. I beleive they may have had a live band and singer but that could have been the second dancesport competition aired by NBC
For those of you not familiar with her, here's what the imdb has listed for Debbie Allen. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000739/)

No live band on the 1998 one. In fact I recognized at least one of the songs as being from the Latin Jam 2 CD ;-)

It didn't hit me exactly who she was until I saw old footage of her--she was amazing! I remember watching her in competition and in the movies (was it Dance with Me?) I think Mary tried to at least rectify the situation by acknowledging her as a U.S. Latin (?) champion. She's put on a few pounds but still a good dancer. I they didn't have time to give her a nice costume, and that can make a huge difference in how you look onstage, as we all know.
"assistant."

I think the producers did this intentionally so as to not overshadow Pasha. If they'd revealed who she actually was that might've turned the tide against Pasha, and, really, we want him to stay on the show, yes?

Yes, Mary did say that. I'm sure she did that to rectify the situation and, maybe, prevent the reaction the ballroomers are having right here and now on Dance-Forums.

This morning the same thing occurred to me. Pasha works at her studio. (Which last night, I was thinking it ironic, that as "Executive Director" and Tony being "only" the "Artistic Director" there, he could be considered HER assistant, hehe!:D) But I'm sure she's quite fond of Pasha, and wants the best for him. It could have been quite fine with her to be downplayed (after all, she downplayed her dancing too). I know that the first couple times I watched, knowing who she was, I was watching HER. Did we want the general audience doing that? Especially if they don't have tivo so they can finally go back and watch Pasha? So probably all good, and probably her fine with it all. And we're being offended on her behalf when she's probably quite happy with it all.:)

unless cedric escapes the bottom three of voting (which is a possibility), i think the judges will almost definitely pick him to go over pasha. but if he does, wouldn't it be interesting to see faina go in the week she does a foxtrot (which granted isn't really her style, but it's closer than hip hop), and pasha going in a week he drew a cha-cha?

The quickstep between Lacey and Kameron did not do for me. Even though Lacey has been majorly a swing/latin dancer, I was expecting a bit more of her. Anyone saw her hold? How she put her left arm on Kameron? It was almost like a tango hold! Her hand/wrist was not on his biceps!
The Tango by Neil and Lauren was so Hollywoodian!
Danny and Anya's routine was so so, not memorable enough. I don't remember much of it already.
Pasha was lucky he drew chacha... Could have been much worse if he had to dance a hip-hop or contemporary piece with a TBA.
Anyway, I feel for Pasha but I was left drop dead by Hok and Jaimie's performance. Wade Robson rocks!!! Is he based in NY? How to take lessons with him?

I didn't know who Melanie was and I was surprised when I saw her dancing. It looked more like a social cha cha in terms of energy and styling. I hope that she was just toning it down so the focus would be on Pasha. I also agree the costume was not that flattering--and surely they could have found a pair of fishnets somewhere in the city of Los Angeles!
I tried to vote, but couldn't get through at any time during the 2 hours for either Anya, Lacey, or Pasha. Good sign, I hope.

Thanks for putting up the link to Wade Robson's website. He started teaching when he was 12 and is still teaching! There are links on his website to some workshops and classes he is giving. Last night he looked back at his wife several times when he was being praised for his choreography. There are pictures of her and his family on the site also. I was blown away by his piece last night that Hok and Jaimie danced to, the Viennese waltz the week before, and Mia's contemporary piece (Lacey & Kameron) the week before. A lot of the other pieces are good and the dancers are terrific, but it's been fantastic to get tears and chills in one piece a week so far.

The fact that we're getting tears and chills now, with the top 16 (hell, with the top 20 when you figure in Lacey and Cameron's contemporary piece) is just a testament to how high the level of dance is this season. I usually don't expect the really great routines until we're down to the top 10 dancers left in the show. The fact that we're getting great or breathtaking routines now makes me feel spoiled. And happy! :D

And I agree about how shocking it was that Jesus is going, but I could understand why, doesn't make it any better though.
When Nigel started rambling on about the reasons that people voted for Cedric, I wanted to throw something at the tv. He knows darn tootin well why people voted for Cedric, he's the producer of American Idol for goodness sake!

I know that a lot of dancers were injured or were ill in the last season but kept on dancing, but they also chose their dances and took care of themselves when they weren't dancing. Donyelle, Natalie, Benji being a couple... and I don't think they went to the hospital twice like Jessi did....

Yeah that's what we thought too. Plus... it did affect her heart, and right away my family thought that maybe she had a small heart attack, but then she had said otherwise tonight. But she performed tonight, and kept up rather well despite not having a great solo. So, it's to bad she didn't get to perform last night. I feel for her. I do hope she gets better and finds out exactly what she can do to prevent that in the future. Not that you can prevent everything, but you should take caution when you know things like you know when you are getting dehydrated and things like that. Overall, I'm really enjoying this show. My family makes it a night to where we get together to watch it, because it's a good family show! I'm even going to take some Hip Hop lessons once my schedule cuts back a bit at work. I wonder how much of this kind of outcome is a result of the voting system. If I can only manage to get one vote in for my favorite, I have no way of expressing my opinion about the remaining dancers. I may have to watch helplessly as my second favorite dancer loses a place to my least favorite.
Let me exaggerate to make the point. There are three dancers (Larry, Moe, and Curly) and 1000 voters. Larry is popular this week and gets 900 votes. Moe gets 45 and Curly gets 55. Moe has the least votes and, of course, gets the boot.
600 of Larry's voters would have also have cast their votes for Moe if they had the chance and 300 would have voted for Curly. Moe's total would then be 645 votes to Curly's 355. Curly is the hands-down least favorite among the 1000 voters but stays to dance another week.
If, instead, we voted for our least favorite dancer to go home, my one vote would express support for all my favorite dancers. America's combined vote would identify the least favorite dancer with a much higher degree of confidence. All of the most deserving dancers advance to the next round.
But Americans love a winner and voting for the loser just don't sound right does it? That wouldn't make good TV. :headwall:

My SO and I thought Jesus was fantastic, and were both shocked that they cut Jessi, then Jesus. Wha? I was just saying to him, this is not a good system when Cedric stays and Jesus gets cut! We thought Neil would go.
I guess the more drama, the better, but not at the risk of keeping a dancer with any kind of a heart problem? Will we ever know the real story? Will the Nat Enq find out for us? ha! And, I must know, is her heart irregularity like mine?

The judges actually do interact with the finalists more regularly than we (the public audience) thinks. So even if the reason isn't on television the judges would (or should) talk to the contestants behind the scenes when all is said and done.
I do know for a fact that the judges preview all the routines before the actually taping begins... i would think that they would be somewhat available behind the scenes in getting to know the dancers, etc. so there isn't any reason why they wouldn't let Jessi know privately at least. (Like at the end of the results show day when the dancers gather for a farewell dinner.)

I do like Dominic and Sabra for their personality but seeing Danny and Anya in the bottom 3.... reminded me that NO one is Safe... and sometimes we forget to vote for the best and try to vote for the couple we think is in risk.
So if you like them.... please vote for them.... since everytime i see a ballroom dancer in the bottom 3, i know there is a high chance they will be asked to go. It's also not good when we compared their solos to the others, it gives a bad impression to the audience...their solo's have nto been Good.

I actually wasn't shocked that Danny and Anya were in the bottom 3. Their hip-hop routine was very good...but not amazing. Anya is obviously an incredible latin dancer, but she did seem like she was holding back a tiny bit when doing hip-hop...and when the competition level is so high, even the slightest bit of tentativeness can cost you. I am SOOO glad she stayed on, because I think she will get better and better outside her style. I think it's important to remember this was the first week she had something other than latin/ballroom. I also thought her interview segment was funny and endearing (about the boom-tick-aah.)
I am surprised that the latin dancers haven't had better solos. I seem to recall that I really like Dmitri's solos last season (and NO, not just for THAT reason!) I thought they showcased latin movement so well. I feel like the opportunity is there to do something showy and very true to latin dancing without a partner.

I remember Heidi doing a really nice solo that the judges loved, too. So it goes to show that they're capable of doing so... but so far Anya & Pasha's solos have been 'ok' rather than amazing. Here's hoping that they can step it up!

Yes, I liked the Paso that Dimitry did and a Rumba that Arterm did. Also Heidi had a good solo Cha routine last season...
Anya may have been tentative... not sure I saw it that way.. I think she just have an ease that doesnt have to work hard to make it happen, and not matter what she does looks very sexy and femenine.
I think Neil is good with jumps/tricks but for me that was not dancing. He sometimes comes across as a gymnast that happens to dance, not a dancer. I didnt like his solo and thought he should go home.

I dont know what to expect from the new partnership: Pashan and B-girl!! It will be interesting.

Snow had some pretty creative solos in season one, and I think they were best of any latin/ballroom dancer's that I have seen on the show, but the elimination process was different for the first season with the viewers voting on which of the bottom two(?) dancers got to stay

I agree. His solo seemed more like tricks with some dancing thrown in between. I really thought Jesus deserved to stay.

Didn't Dan Karaty say that about Neil during the audition process?

This year is becoming very difficult for me to watch the results show. The level of dance is so much higher than other seasons that it's hard for me to watch anyone get cut.
Last night, I was dissapointed that Cedric wasn't in the bottom 3 and therefore eliminated. I think America got it wrong last night. I love his attitude but not his dancing so much.
I can kind of understand why they sent Jessi home. Part of being a dancer is taking care of yourself and if she's not doing that (by letting herself get dehydrated) then getting sent home was the right thing to happen. I am very glad that she's ok and doesn't have a heart problem. Hopefully, she will learn from this and take better care of herself.
They said the next show was July 11. It's going to be very hard to wait 2 weeks for the next episode. I don't know why they are skipping next week but, it will give the dancers extra time to work on their routines. I expect to see a higher level of dancing in 2 weeks.

Two reasons:
1) It's the 4th of July holiday.
2) Transformers opens in theatres July 2nd. :D

Lol... I'm not sure where to put this, but I figured I'd put it here. I just saw Melanie LaPatin (was she Tony Meredith's partner?) on the television show, What Not To Wear today! She's so cute! Tony was also on the show. But I really enjoyed watching Melanie. She was giving everyone dancing lessons inbetween takes and things like that lol. But wasn't Melanie the same one that danced with I think Pasha (Pashan) is his name? She seemed really nice and fun. I would love to take dancing lessons from her! I know Tony is a choreographer for the show, so that's one of the reasons why I put this post here. Sorry if it's under the wrong thread. I just love Tony, but I didn't really know who Melanie was until now. ;)
I think the only thing that made me more upset than Jesus going home instead of Cedric was that the next show isn't until July11. I already get antsy on Tuesday nights because I can't get it through my head that it's AI that's Tues/Wed, that my beloved SYTYCD is Wed/Thur. Now having to wiat a whole extra week instead of just a day? Ugh!!

Melanie was (is) Tony's partner. They were married for a long time, but the marriage ended a couple of years ago. The business partnership (they own a studio in NYC, called Dance Times Square) continues and they are on great terms together.
They were Latin US National Champions around the year 1998.

Thank you! Yeah they said business associate or something like that on the show last night, but then I saw her today and I was like oh... wait a second lol. Thanks! I like her! I hope she's on more often! ;)

Lol... sorry. I've been gone working! My boss decided to put me in charge of making the ecommerce website (which will look great on my resume being that I get to work with the website from the very beginning)! Well, it's me and one other girl. The other girl doesn't have any computer experience, so she's doing a few things here and there to help me out. So, I've been putting in extra hours getting that going. Plus we are moving to a new location. But I'm putting my degree into use again, which feels nice. Luckily, this is the one show that I get to watch, because it's perfect timing. My family comes over to eat and watch along with lol! I think they just want the free food, but I told them that I have to watch my show either way lol. Hey, I make a great cook, but the show is a lot of fun lol! So, they don't mind! I just figure that they can leave if they want to if they really don't want to watch it lol! ;)

They actually do! My step-dad I think loves it the most! His favorite is Lacey. He's like, how do you vote? I want to vote lol! He's never been that way before lol. The only thing he doesn't like are the short outfits lol. My mom gets it after I explained to her why the girls wear them, but he doesn't get it yet lol. Also, the girls like Pasha. Is that his name? He came off so sweet after the last episode that he's the only one us girls can really agree on now lol! But my mom is really learning about dance as well. We watched America's Ballroom Challenge together, and I was explaining who the people were etc., and she remembered Tony Meredith (spelling?) as the host! So, she's getting to know the dance world as well! My parents won't go back to Philly until August, so we'll probably get to watch this one together until the end which will be nice. ;)

That's so funny that they showed What Not to Wear Today! I wonder if it was planned at all. I taped that program when it was on a few years ago. The clothing people threw away all of Melanie's black clothes. What torment for a dancer to lose all the black! She was supposed to wear purple and green, I think.

Lol... I wasn't sure if it was a rerun since it's summer. But it was a fun show. She kept dancing in the store etc. lol! I kept thinking of the clothes threads the girls on here have made about what we buy lol. But what they picked out for her looked nice! And I loved all of the shoes! ;)

The What Not to Wear episode with Melanie is a rerun. Never saw it, but had friends who mentioned it to me when it originally aired some time back.

Here is a good interview (IMHO) with Jessie and Jesus: http://realitycheckbygina.blogspot.com/2007/06/reality-check-with-jessi-peralta-jesus.html
I was not so upset about Jessie's as about Jesús' elimination. I thought Lauren or Sara should have been eliminated instead of her since she was great together with Pasha. But since none did a good solo they had to pick one and I understand better now why they picked her. Apparently this was not the first time for her in the hospital and she could be a liability for the show. This is what I get out of the boards on the SYTYCD website. It is in this thread: http://forums.fox.com/foxsytycd/messages/?msg=42677.1
I am still upset and sad about Jesús being eliminated! Reading the interview I thought, yes, not only is he a great dancer, he also has a great personality, he is a very compassionate and caring guy with a big heart for others. I hope that he has impressed the right people in the business who give him great opportunities!

That interview makes Jessi sound like she has a huge ego, but, honestly, I really enjoyed reading what she had to say and Jesús, my god, I see a *BRIGHT* future for that guy!
Jesus just seems like a really down to earth guy with a huge heart. I so enjoyed him with Sara, they just threw themselves into whatever they were given. Except for when Cedric goes, (and maybe Danny, kind of get a bit of an arrogant vibe from him), I'm going to be so sad to see any of these kids going home from here out! (Heck, I already cried when Jesus got sent home.)
I hope the sympathy voters are proud of themselves, letting Nigel manipulate them like that!

When I got to watch the show (I recorded it to watch as I was on vacation) when Jesus was making his goodbye speech, the camera cut away from him into the audience and bleeped part of his speech. I couldn't tell if it was intentional or if it was an accident. Does anyone know what he said?
I don't know if any of you care or not, but Eonline is reporting that Kameron and Lacey are dating. Cute couple, I think.
