HI,

I'm new here and found this forum trying to find some links on how to dance. I'm aware this might have been asked before so excuse me for wasting your time.
My situation is that I haven't really danced properly before and it is starting to be a problem for me. When it comes to dancing situations I just panich and feel humiliated and scared of making a fool out of myself, as i really don't think i can dance at all. However I am motivated to beat this as I obviously can't stay like that forever. I am also prepared to spend time on it.
I'm not looking to be a great dancer or anything but just want to learn the very basics and after that maybe go a bit further.
If anyone has some advice it would be very much appreciated. Do you recommend any DVD's on how to dance for begginners, as an instructor (some of you) do you often get people like me, basically what do you recommend?

I have found this link (http://www.dance-forums.com//showthread.php?t=697) where I found some interesting topics but can't access them. anyone knows how these can still be found ?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I recommend doing an advanced search using a few different keywords....and welcome to DF...sometimes links and things go away when we upgrade and it takes a while for the volunteer staff to fix that

gerrard, the feelings you describe is what everybody here has gone through and many continue to go through at times regardless of how much they've learned and accomplished. You're not unique in that regard and if we could learn then so can you.

That said, I must ask what kind of dancing you're talking about. Most of us here are partner dancers. Are you asking about swing, salsa, country, ballroom? A bit of information about what kind of dancing you're looking for would help us to help you.

I'm not sure what to call it exactly, but just regular dancing that you'd see at parties or clubs. i'm aware that there are different dances for different music but what would you suggest for someone who is simply looking for something to start with and wants to learn the basics?

Welcome to DF!

Try using the search feature above and looking for "grinding." It sounds like that's what you are looking for. In the "Quickies on Grinding" thread, I put a link to a DVD that looks good for guys wanting to learn club dancing. I can't remember it now, but you'll find it in that thread.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'm about to purchase that DVD, hopefully it is as good as what the comments say on amazon.
