No Shoes Allowed

Ever been to a dance where you could only do so in socks or bare feet?

Such a dance is being held here this Friday. It is at this fine arts studio just outside of the downtown area here. I've seen the place and the floor is rather odd; can't recall what the material is.

But there is a concrete area where you can dance in shoes according to the info in the weekly newsletter.

Don't know if I'll attend since it's in the same time slot of the dance I normally go to; my first one in three weeks now that I'm recovered from my surgery I had on the 14th in which all went well. :D

One of those coming up as well - with shoes though; being held at the local Knights of Columbus hall of which one of the local swing dancers is a member and helped organize it. 8)

Here I was thinking what is this weird dance you guys are talking about? :oops: A little goggling told me about the sock hops of the 50s when street shoes were forbidden on gym and basketball wooden floors!!! So people wore their socks, or went on the floor in their bare feet! Nowadays we wear dance shoes for such floors. That way we don't damage them!! I do see some people who only wear socks on occasion though.

This dance I mention is not a 50's theme though, but general swing dancing. Haven't decided whether to go to that one or to my studio' s Friday dance.
