Do any of you go to a studio or other venue that holds a tea dance?
There hasn't been one in quite awhile here; I really enjoyed the ones that they did have which were on Sunday afternoons when when held.
It helps that I love coffee and tea.

Great topic, spitfire. I've wondered about this for a while, since there's a tea dance held every Friday afternoon here. But I'd never even heard of it.
From your description, I'm guessing it's just a ballroom dance where coffee and tea are served, and no alcohol. Is that right?

Basically yes; rather informal and treats are served as well.

You know the only reason I haven't tried it yet is that the dance is held at a senior center. I should stop being so prejudiced and try it at least once. I bet I'll meet some nice people. I usually do. :D

Since I'm talking about the ones held at the studio it's a small crowd of those who take lessons there and ones like myself who attend the open dances on the weekend; this though I don't remember who all was there except for the owner and one of the staff. Tea, coffee and snacks are served and thus the name Tea Dance.
The last one held featured first a performace by a lady playing her harp and then the dancing.
The food element just made me think of the sock hop being held at the local Knights of Columbus hall next Saturday. The admission cost of ten dollars includes all the hamburgers you can eat. 8) Malts and shakes are extra though.
