Hand Rock in International Samba - is it a step, or a hand hold?

Hello etale, I have not heard of anything in int'l samba referred to as a "Hand Rock", though I certainly cannot claim to have a high level of expertise in the area. Have also checked my Samba ISTD book and do not see any syllabus patterns with such a name.

Hope fully somebody will be along with more information?

The only syllabus figures with "rock" in the name are:

Closed Rocks
Open Rocks
Back Rocks

I've seen Corta Jaca danced with just the leader's left hand holding the follower's right. Maybe that's the figure you mean?

Browsing the web I found this:

"The advanced samba techniques presented in this video by dance instructors Ron Montez and Donna Eng include reverse turn with swivels, the Botafogo twist, closed rocks, walk and volta, fallaway combination, samba walk and HAND ROCK, progressive locks and shadow roll."

Does somebody have this video (AV# 86989 International Style Advanced One Samba)?

Dance Vision produces an American style samba syllabus. Maybe this is one of their figures. Personally I would not put too much into learning an American samba syllabus, if you're looking to learn syllabus figures. It would not really be used anywhere, and it would be similar enough to the Intl Latin that you might as well learn that instead.

I very likely have access to this video in our team collection. Not sure when I can get to it but I'll check when I can.
