*waves* Heh, heh, I'm back again. I just wanted to ask a question to the women who read this or male partners who have discussed this: Does anyone have a particular preference with Latin shoes as to whether they are open- or closed-toe?

I ask because I'm looking at this site, trying to save money for dance shoes. To tell the truth, and no stoning for blashphemy please (  ), the shoes I have are jazz shoes instead of Latin. My parents and I bought them after my first few lessons, because we wanted to make sure that I had at least some sort of dance shoes to be using. So I was just wondering whether one was better than the other (for practice shoes). Thanks a lot everyone!

(PS-I found the topics about floorcraft really interesting and educational, even though it wasn't my question, I learned quite a bit about the little things as a partner that I can do to help my lead! =^_^= Good night!) :kitty:

Generally, Latin shoes for women are open toe, especially when related to competitive dancing. In social dancing and even salsa, the rules are less stringent or nonexistant.

Hi Sakura! Welcome to the forums. :D Many of us are quite proud to be dance shoe fanatics, so quite a bit has already been posted. Check the index thread at the top of general dance discussion forum.

As a rule, Latin shoes are open toe and ballroom shoes are closed toe, but as DM said, for social purposes, I've seen lots of people just use whatever they have. Jazz shoes are balanced differently than ballroom shoes, but at the beginning stages, even that shouldn't make much difference.
