That you can't figure the dance they fit with.

I think Moondance is a great song for that catagory, whats yours :?:

OK, an edit, i mean songs that you will want to grab a partner, to dance with and then recall, mmm, i cant Salsa with this song, cant cha cha and so on. Moondance always does this to me, and some Jazz songs. Maybe there is a dance that im not aware to.

Lol...that's funny, TheArchon...there's NO music I couldn't/wouldn't dance too, hell, I'll even tap along to phone hold music, but I do know what you're getting at...will put my thinking cap on...

Last time I suggested Moondance was a great lindy hop I got slapped up pretty badly in the swing forum :)

But what would you dance to it other than lindy?

Hey dnquark. Sorry you felt beat up.

According to this website, Moondance by Van Morrison (how come I didn't remember THAT?!? ) is a foxtrot. I can't tell a lindy from anything else, yet, but there are a lot of dances out there, dnquark, that you could either foxtrot or swing to. Off hand, I don't know, but Moondance might be one of them.

But its not my point, what you say is that every danceable song actualy have a unique dance for it :?:

Nope, while every song can be danced too there is not (well, at least not in my estimation) a dance for every song.

I lindy/blues/psuedo-westie to Moondance all the time. It's a bit of a favorite around here. I play it as a DJ and don't get beats, so I'm not sure what level of purist you'd have to be to insist that it's foxtrot only, although it's certainly foxtrot-able.

There aren't a lot of songs that I can't dance to, but there are a lot of songs that I listen to, think "Ooh, I could totally (fill in dance name here) to this" and then realize I couldn't DJ it because it's too off-the-wall for the crowd, or the dance beat is too obscure, or I'm just not a brave enough DJ to throw out anything that funky.

Bif Naked has a kick-ass waltz ("Lucky") that I keep swearing I'll play, The Clarks have another Waltz, plus at least one nightclub. (I'm too tired to remember the names right now). Oingo Boingo has some fun stuff I'm sure we could do SOMETHING to. :)

Taht's kind of the nice thing about house parties where it's kind of "self-DJ'd", I can bust out some totally random song and see how it goes over, and if it's not instantly dance-able nobody kills me. :)
