Hello all:
I'm having a problem before competition. I have a beautiful Salsa dress that I'd like to wear in competition soon. Unfortunately, I sweat heavily through my back when dancing and the few times I've tried the dress on, I have a few perspiration stains on it already (and I haven't even made it to competition yet). Any ideas on what I can wear underneath to absorb the perspiration before it makes it to the dress? I thought about a one piece bodysuit made of cotton (for absorbtion).
I'm running out of time, does anyone have any ideas? Also, how do you get perspiration stains out of a dress?
Thanks so much:smile:

Welcome to DF!
I've used a product called Mehron's Barrier Spray. It's a clear liquid that you spray on. It's designed for actors to wear under fake noses, etc. to keep from sweating them off. You can get it at a theatrical or costume shop, or check their web site. It really does block sweating.

I think this post would do better in the Ballroom forum though. Seems like most of the questions over there are about costuming tricks for performance/competition.

All,
Thanks so much for the suggestions and the quick tips regarding posting double threads; much appreciated.
For this situation, I'm not worried about dry cleaning, I just don't want to be embaraassed during the competition (who wants to dance with a wet mop?) I have actually ordered a product that is supposed to stop sweat in its tracks (I believe it's a spray-on product similar to Mehron's, waltzgirl. A good thing since the fabric on the competition dress is lightweight. I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks Again!
Be careful with the stop sweat product though. You don't want to use it EVERYWHERE. After all, you sweat for a reason, to keep cool! It's much less embarrassing to be sweaty than to collapse from heat exhaustion!!
