Im new to the whole latin dancing scene, and this site but Im curious to see what other people think about different dances. My first question is which dance do you think has the most flava and which dance do you think has the best chemistry? I know all dances need to have chemistry but is there one in particular that really stands out?

First off welcome to DF! :D

Second, the answer to your question will depend entirely on the preferences of each specific dancer. For me personally it's the music the drives what dances I enjoy the most. Salsa and Cha Cha Cha are my favorites followed very closely by Bachata. Chemistry is driven by the two partners and not the dance itself (my personal opinion again!)

Welcome to df Danielle!! I'll stick to latin as that is what it seems you are interested in. :)

I agree with youngsta that chemistry of the person/people plays a great role. For me it is salsa and bachata. Bachata, latin country dance, because of its relatively simple tripping beat (That's how I define it as I really don't know much about the technical aspects of music.), and salsa because of it's complex patterns/instrumentation etc that makes it what it is. Merengue would come after that because it just has a driving 1 2 throughout the song. I like cha cha and want to learn and do more, but not only it isn't played much, but few people know it too. :(

Hi DaniGurl! Welcome. :D

I agree with Sagitta. While all the dances have their own character, with the Latin dances, in my opinion, it's easiest to tap into and feel that flava it looks like you're after.

Thank you both for the welcomes. I know that you have to have chemistry between the 2 people dancing or it will never work. I guess the question that Im asking, I really can't put into a better question. Just another curious question, what do you think about the Dirty Dancing 2 movie thats coming out?

Hmm. I don't know, danigurl. There's chemistry and then there's chemistry. Chemistry between two people does make for a great dance experience. But it doesn't always have to be positive chemistry -- some of my best dances have been when I was really angry. And, sometimes, with dance performances or competitions, there's a lot of acting involved. It's certainly easier to dance with someone when there's chemistry, but you can also dance with them when you're neutral, or even when you can't stand them. At least, that's how I feel.

Merengue is the flirting dance. :) In reference to chemistry there isn't one person whom I've danced with who hasn't smiled/responded to me!! We have times when we dance together, and times when we play a game of back and forth, according to the music. I lead it by dancing it in half time to give a slower feel, then switch back to normal time...that's merengue for me :D

Hi I am an elementary pom pom instructor. My problem is I can't find any appropriate music with no explicit language or cursing in it. The kids bop is too kiddish  do you have any hope 4 me we have a performance in 2 months and we cant even find a song. Please write back if its hip hop and nice pace beats but its clean. :kissme: thank u

Hi dat_one_quanda! Welcome!

Man. No explicit language OR cursing? Hip hop? Yikes! Gotta think about it. Almost everything I can think of has some cursing or sex in it. But I'll listen and see what I can find.

You'd think the marketers of this stuff would realize what a huge market there is for "clean" but contemporary hip hop. The last person I can remember with a strict no-slime policy was Chubb Rock -- what was that 1990? When is somebody else going to wise up?
