I am planning a vacation to South Beach in November. It has been about 3 years since I have been there. I am looking for recommendations for salsa dance clubs. I am familiar with Mango's. The best place I went to was a club called Starfish which doesn't seem to advertise much. I also went to Bongo's which was way too crowded and the salsa band was outside on a concrete patio.

OK . . . no recommendations from anyone . . .
Anyway . . . I did go to Miami Beach this past weekend and I did get a little dancing in. For those who might be going to Miami in the future . . . I went to Yuca Lounge on Friday night 12 midnite to about 1:30am. Yuca Lounge is a small nightclub upstairs over Yuca the restaurant on Lincoln Road. A dance group called Salsa Mia (Google Yuca Lounge) holds lessons there from 8:30 - 10:30. I figured it would be a similar club format to the clubs I'm used to in San Francisco and I was right. The dance floor is tile and holds about 30 couples. DJ music - though there is a stage if they wanted live music. Skill range varies from beginner to pretty advanced. Dancing was on 1 and on 2 and there seemed to be a circular Cuban style going on as well. I'm not talking about Rueda but just a circlular couples dance style. It doesn't hurt if you know spanish (I don't). Everyone was pretty friendly. Of course, since it is Miami, it is pretty hot and humid.
Also - South Beach on Halloween night is quite a scene.

I hope you guys can add or comment here. I may go to Miami in Dec, bc I know I can find places to go Salsa. I am taking a rueda class and may want to try that too. So, if I do a vaca for myself around the holidays that's a destination I may try.
I know there is a congress of some sort in Miami this month. Maybe you will get more results based on the congress :shrug. I will try to save this thread for myself.

Sorry I know nothing about Miami, but if nobody responds here, you could try posting the same question on our sister forum, www.salsaforums.com - I think some of the members there may know the scene there.
