I can only hope that it's as good as our beloved SYTYCD (well, my beloved, anyway). ;)

Bravo casting for dance competition Step it Up, from Project Runway’s producers

Bravo is now casting for yet another competition series that follows talented people who practice a craft. Following in So You Think You Can Dance’s footsteps, Step it Up will be a competition between dancers.

Bravo says that the “the series will challenge them to master every conceivable dance style, from ballet and ballroom to Broadway and burlesque,” and that the “new dance series will feature challenges in which the dancers audition for a range of parts, designed to showcase their versatility and moves.” They will be eliminated one at a time. Presumably, there will be judges, although hopefully ones with send-off lines that don’t suck (http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/top_design/2007_Feb_15_third_act_problems).

In a press release (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?date=09/10/07&id=20070910bravo02), executive producer Jane Lipsitz said, “We believe there is an emotional, dramatic and visually exciting side of the dance world that has yet to be explored. We are very excited to take the same organic and passionate approach to dance, as we do to cooking in ‘Top Chef’ and fashion in ‘Runway.’”

The network wants “trained and self-taught dancers” who “do not need years of experience but you do need to be creative, highly skilled and ready to compete.” Casting (http://www.bravotv.com/Casting//index.shtml#stepitup) is open to those age 18 and up, and open calls will take place in Los Angeles (Sept. 22), Chicago (Sept. 29), New York (Oct. 6), and Atlanta (Oct. 13), although locations have not yet been announced.

If it's as good as Project Runway and Top Chef it will be a winner.
