IDO joins IDSF as Associate Member

On February 7. 2004, a meeting between the two Presidents, Mr. Rudolf Baumann IDSF (International DanceSport Federation) and Mr. Nils-Hakan Carlzon IDO (International Dance Organization) took place in Zürich. After a very constructive meeting a provisional agreement for Associate Membership of the IDSF was signed.

Both Presidents strongly recommended that all respective Member Federations will be invited to cooperate with the other party's Member body in the same country. IDSF President Rudolf Baumann expressed his great appreciation and sees the inclusion of the IDO into the IDSF family as a fantastic opportunity for future cooperation to the benefit of DanceSport worldwide.

  Wow! This is a HUGE deal. I have to check the web to try tounderstand where all this cooperation came from. :? 8) But it's all good. The more cooperation, the better, at least from a lowly layman's point of view.

Well, at the very least it is an interesting development since the IDO used to be associated with the WD & DSC...

Given the rifts between the WD & DSC and the IDSF on the one hand (and especially their respective U.S. bodies, the NDCA and USABDA), and the WD & DSC (including the NDCA and ABC) and the IDO on the other, this new realignment seems to fit.

What I am curious to see is how this realignment actually plays out, and with what implications at that.
