Anyone heard of a soft collar for a tail suit? Seems like a good idea but I wonder.

Good question. Yes, and I prefer soft (cloth-covered) collars to the plastic collars.:D

I prefer the cloth look and feel, although a consideration is that soft collars absorbs sweat and make-up and need to be replaced.

It always struck me as odd . . . a beautiful, tailored tailsuit - the ultimate in men's dress - with a plastic collar that yellows. But I guess that's as bad as a dirty soft collar!

How times change-- thats all we had --cloth--used to be a Co. in the uk. where you could send all your detached collars ( reg, shirts also ) and they would give you a new supply for the week , Great service , and reasonable .

I just toss my "soft" collars in the wash. :)

I'm always learning from you Joe . . . how many events do yours last without discoloration?

That's standard . . . and eventually I also end up replacing my white collared (smooth) shirts faster than I do for normal biz (where they last forever).

Danceshopper. They cost about twice as much as the plastic, but IMO worth it.

Mine last about 1-2 comps before requiring cleaning, depending on how much I sweat and how much makeup runs off my face. :)
