Hello! This is my first post, so I guess I should introduce myself first. I've been dancing for maybe two to three months now, and I'm in a dance class that meets every other day, excluding weekends. Male, 15 (soon to be 16 xD).

Onto my problem! About two to three weeks ago, I sprained my wrist. It was minor, as in I still have most of my movement, but I couldn't turn my hand. As in, I couldn't get my palm to face upwards, or couldn't touch my left palm to my face. It was quite frustrating, as dance involved many wrist movements and I had to consciously stop myself from damaging my wrist.

I was just wondering if any of you have encountered a similar problem? Any suggestions? I've been icing it, heating it, bandaging it, doing everything I can to make it heal faster. It's getting a bit better, but not by much and not nearly fast enough. :(

Oh, I have a performance coming up in one month. I have to do multiple lifts too, which I'm currently doing with just my right arm, but the girl doesn't go nearly as high as she could. She has to push off my shoulders, so she's doing a lot more work than she should. So I need it to heal FAST!

Welcome to DF, first of all. :D
Now... It's extremely important to be careful with injuries. Dancers usually have this weirdly masochistic tendency (I am not excluding myself from the group ) to ignore the pain and injury and push forward. BUT. It can lead to much worse and much more permanent injuries.
Have you seen a doctor? What did s/he recommend? I'd say rest as much as you can. Avoid any extra strain. Don't even lift a bag. But a doctor would give you a much better idea of what you're supposed to do. Please go see a good orthopedic doctor or a sports doctor and explain your situation.
Best of luck,

I would suggest consulting a healthcare provider. I'd also suggest that maybe you should hold off on doing lifts if you aren't able to safely do them. With you not able to use that hand, you're putting your partner at risk of serious injury.

A sprain, I think, would have healed after 2 -3 weeks. I would see a doctor as you may have a more serious injury than just a sprain. Hope not but prevention is better than cure.
