I want to know how to get back into dancing after being away from it for 7 years. I danced steadily for 12 years and performed semi-professionally from age 8-18. I dance jazz, hip-hop, salsa, swing and some ballet. I had to quit due to a knee injury and my doctor told me that dancing would not be in my future. I have since recovered and feel confident I could dance again. I have taken a few classes off and on but I want it to be more than just a class I take once a week. I miss it so much. I am a natural performer and dancing fulfills me in a way nothing else does. I wish I could have that in my life again but I'm not sure how to do it. I think I'm too old to start from the beginning and have a dancing career. Please help and honesty is more than welcomed.

Welcome to df bobcat78. :D Glad to see that you want to make dancing more then just a class here and there. :)

It is interesting that you bring this topic up as I remember quite a bit of talk about getting into dancing once again in our forums....

getting back into the swing of things (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?topic=2345)

In this thread there is a link to yet another thread called coming back after a dance haitus (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1734)

Hope that this helps.
