How is everyone's spinning?
What technique do you use and how many spins can you do (unaided by partner contact or "skateboarding" with the second foot)?
------
I can manage a triple spin unaided without having to put my other foot down for balance/correction but can only do it anti-clockwise. I can't spin clockwise to save my life.
Hi and welcome. Me, I am hopeless at spinning. But my son is great at it. He can do 4 spot rotations on either leg and stop dead when required. How did he learn to do it? Practice. And lots of it. And he would work on it on all types of surfaces, dance floors, kitchen tiles, carpet, lino, etc. Also, you need to 'spot', meaning that you focus your rotations to begin and end at the same place. Once you have mastered that, you can then do three + half spins etc. Hope that helps.

Another vote for practice! It's natural to be better at going in one direction than the other - most people have a favoured direction. I can triple to the right on a good day but can never go more than two to the left! I've been told that it's a good idea to practise going both ways - spin right, spin left, spin right, spin left - that way the bad side learns good technique from the good side (apparently).

I started learning spinning two weeks ago. I'm definitely getting better at it (read: less dizzy) but I can't do more than a spin clockwise. I'm going to keep practicing... I know that I will very gradually get better at it.

Between 3-4 depending on the day. Turning is about perfect technique, spotting, and strong ankles. You've got to work hard to learn how to do it, and you've got to be a little fearless. I have friends who can do 8-9. Which is a combination of power and technique. Usually guys are better at it, since they have higher centers of gravity and can imploy their upper body to help the turn, but girls can do it too. when it comes to balance, both sexes can get it.
Good luck all.

I just turn myself. Too lazy to practice. ;-)
I don't spot or anything...one gets used to it.

The lazy route, lol.
It that is a bit annoying in partner dance, especially if the person "wanders" while spinning which is often the case when they walk it.
As for me I'm getting worse. I even managed to fall over on Friday. It didn't do my dignity any good.
