While I was out looking for ballroom certification requirements today, I ran across the Dancesport Australia, Dancesport South African, and IDSF web pages, plus a few others, that all have relatively recent anti-doping policies. Okay. I know I'm not all that well informed, but I never thought that there would be issues with dancesport athletes using performance-enhancing drugs. Is this a real issue, or is it just a matter of getting policies in place for the recent dancesport in the Olympics campaign? Any observations?

Not really sure if it is a major problem either, but I can certainly see where performance enhancing drugs would help with stamina and muscle strength and control.
If they are serious about getting Dancesport introduced as a legitimate Olympic sport, it is something they need to consider and show that they have a plan in place to deter it's use.
Seems a bit out of place though to come off the dancefloor in the beautiful gowns, etc and have to pee in a bottle!! :o

Maybe the regulations are preemptive, more than anything. But there are actual rules against tampering with the results of urine tests, so peeing in a bottle can't be far off. eeek! LOL.
On the other hand, dancesport is a physically demanding sport. Drugs probably could enhance performance significantly. Hmm.
Does anybody have observations on this?

I actually googled on this, and found nothing about drugs to enhance dance performance. Either it's a non-issue, or it's being kept very quiet. Now, ballroom dance and alcohol abuse, that I found aplenty.
