I've only got one pair of Latin shoes, but am about to buy a second pair for ballroom, but am tossing up between those and a gorgeous pair of tango shoes for AT, a pair of closed-toe ballroom shoes and Bloch runners for another style I dance.

How many pairs do folks have, one for all styles, none or a couple of multi-purpose pairs?

Counting a couple of beat up pairs, I have a total of 8.

I actually have a shoe fetish . . . but for dancing, I have 3 men's tango shoes with varying heel heights in smooth, textured, and a velvet-like finish . . . 5 pairs of dance sneakers - all black . . . 1 pair of flat lace-up shoes with leather heels and soles . . . and 2 pair of Evening Star dance boots for competing in C&W . . . and many, many pairs of those jazz practice shoes for dancing on our dance floor that I bult in our third-car garage.

Just my capiezo sneakers...that's it. I buy nice shoes with 100% leather bottoms to dance in. I don't want to have to change shoes when I get to a club.

I have two pair of latin shoes that I alternate and wear to class, and one old ripped and repaired pair that I use for home practice.

Two pair of latin shoes, and one for smooth. But I feel I need more!

Pygmalion, I understand! :D

  A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I'm trying not to buy any new ones for a while. A local high school dance team needs shoes, so when I see sales for the next few months, I'll satisfy my need to buy shoes by buying shoes to donate to needy kids. I definitely don't need any new ones, myself.

Hmm, just one pair, my trusty Capezio oxfords. I would like to get a second pair that was more like a sneaker as I dislike having to change shoes sometimes.

21 pairs...I wonder who has the most on DF? It may be you Pygmalion!

Anyone with twenty-two pairs or more, please come down! (Sorry. I was watching game shows today!  )

I have just 2 pairs! One black patent leather closed toe, by Paul Wright (much too expensive for the quality!)
and a pair of open toe sandals by Very Fine Shoes...I fully reccomend those to anyone! Talk about comfort and style!!! I have ordered myself another pair in bronze (have the flesh color)

Both shoes have suede soles..I prefer them.

Id have 50 pairs if I could! But at $115 for the VFS and $145 for the PWs its a bit expensive

Yes. There are a lot more good deals on shoes in Europe and the US than in Australia.

Three pairs for me...one dressy closed-toe, one informal open-toe, and a pair of soft sole jazz-type shoes I never really use much. I take my good shoes into a shoe repair shop every few months to get re-sueded (is that a word???). They only charge me $4.00 for the pair - pretty cool! I'll probably buy one more pair of shoes soon, if I can.

Well, let's see... I got a pair of open-toe and closed-toe sandals (Freed and Gamba), Capezio dance sneakers, and Champion practice shoes. That's 4 pairs so far.

I'll probably get a pair of Supadance standard shoes and another pair of Latin in tan satin color. Seems like those are popular these days, no? :? After that, I'll have 6 pairs.

*sighs* Can't really beat anyone who's got say 4x what I could have. :( But that's ok.

I think I'm about to buy another pair. My poor Capezios have been getting used for many hours of dancing and the soles are getting worn. I kept slipping in class today and then I looked at the shoes...horrors! I think I may need a better pair for Salsa dancing...

Hmm...what to buy...I have no idea. Hopefully i can find a shoe store with a cute saleslady to help me make the right decision.

"hey, do these shoes work for Salsa? Why don't you dance me so I can try them out!" :P

From what I've been reading here, good salsa shoes are a totally different animal from good ballroom shoes. Retire those Capezios, my friens, and get some nice dress shoes with leather soles. At least, that's what boriken and youngsta recommend. Right, guys?

I have one pair of tap shoes, but I'm planning on getting another pair shortly (for different styles and speeds of tap).

Ok, Jenn (pygmalion) wins...hell, she's got more dance shoes than I do ordinary shoes! DM and Vince come second and, well, I've just got the one pair.

How much do ballroom/latin/salsa/Bloch runners (sneakers) /AT/ shoes cost where you are? As ShyDancer mentioned, they're bloody expensive here, about $150 a pop.

I have one pair of patents for Standard, two pairs of Latin shoes (one in velvet suede just for competing), and a pair of regular-heel practice shoes. But guys can get by easily with just a couple of shoes for comps and a couple for practice. Ladies have it much harder because their shoes have to work with the outfit as well.

I agree. Women need more shoes. LOL.

Actually, I freely admit I'm a shoe addict as well as a sale addict. and when you combine the two? You end up with twenty-one pairs of dance shoes.

Now it's getting ridiculous. I had a wonderful private with Sylvia Sykes last week. She was wearing Nike yoga shoes (I have two pair of them) which she had had leathered for dancing. I immediately took my two pair to my shoe guy and had one pair leathered and one sueded. Now I have two pair of ballroom flats, one pair of jazz sneakers, one pair of $5 drugstore sneakers that have been sueded, and the two pair of Nikes in the car.

Personally jazz sneakers work for me... especially Blochs! :D

Why oh why do people choose to quote me only when I have typos?  8)

How about lady's salsa shoes? Mostly, I've seen women in teetery street shoes -- you know, the ones that look like the lady can't possibly stay in her shoes, much less dance in them.  And I've seen women in strappy Latin ballroom shoes.

Yeah, many of the serious salseras here are in ballroom shoes (especially Dance Naturals for some reason) although many also use Blochs when dressed more casually.

Dance Naturals is a nice brand of shoe -- very supportive of the foot, has that pretty, strappy, look, lots of different fabrics and colors, and heels that give the illusion of being higher than they are. Perfect for salsa. :D

Just got a new pair of latin suntan leather yesterday. Looking around, I have one pair low heeled practice shoe, 2 pairs of old but repaired closed toe t-straps, 1 beat-up pair of Monicas (latin), 1 sparkly latin pair, and one pair of smooth viennas. So that's 7.
I still need a pair of smooth shoes for competition (without a flared heel) and would like to up my latin heel height to 3" (I'm looking with longing at the Freed Beata!).
