View Full Version : Example of why it pays to shop around online (huge price differentials)

I just thought some of you might find it interesting to see what I came across today. I suppose this could be considered a "plug" for guaranteedfittangoshoes.com, because what I am about to say IS complimentary of them...

I have ordered shoes from them in the past and my only complaint would be that it appears to be a one-man operation. So customer service and responses to emails can be sporadic. And sometimes shoes can take a long time to arrive (1-2 months). But in the end, they always came through, and the shoes were always nice and very reasonably priced.

So here are examples of two different styles of shoes I wanted to order. In both instances, Guaranteed Fit was charging $20 LESS than the other website (latindancefashions.com). The only reason I was ON the latindancefashions.com site is because they have some nice salsa tops/dresses, which I don't often come across. So while I AM buying some of the clothes from latindancefashions.com, I will NOT be buying any of their shoes, and will go back to Guaranteed Fit's website for that...

Guaranteed Fit shoes at $52.95 each:

Exact same shoes for $20 more at the other site:

thats not such a huge difference.. if you compare things from chrisanne .com (practice wear) and danceshopper, a lot of times items are marked up by almost 100$... danceshopper isnt even faster being in the US.. lol..

Well yeah, the examples I showed may not be a 100% markup, but still, $20 is $20. Why pay more for the exact same item, right? :--)

Just an aside - these shoes are the Very Fine brand, which are widely available from many vendors, and with considerable price differences for the same style. You should also keep in mind the shipping/handling fee (if any). Some vendors include that in the price and offer free shipping, and others don't.
I have the second shoe in red/gold. It's very pretty to look at, and very lousy for Latin. It might be different for Argentine Tango, but I've had better luck with other styles of VF shoes, not this one.
