I noticed the thread about the Develope (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?topic=1817), pronounce dev-lo-pay´, and it reminded me of the Invelope, which I recently encountered again on the Dance Vision Silver Tango Syllabus (step 9). Here is my best comparison:

Develope - first the knee bends and then the leg is extended. Usually, as the the knee bends, it crosses in front of the supporting leg.

Invelope - the leg is extended straight and then it is bent (while in the air), before stepping onto the foot.

The syllabus step is goes like this:
Starting in shadow position both partners step forward on the left. Then they do an invelope with the right foot stepping forward. Then the again with the left foot. The lady is then rolled out to a side by side position (on the man's left side). Finally, they complete the open fan (step point, swivel to closed).

Are there any other dances where you have used an Invelope?

  The only place I've seen it was on that same Dance Vision tape, which I also have. The Jim and Jenelle one, right? :D I'll ask my styling coach, the ex-ballerina.
