Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions about the Academy Awards coming up on Sunday? I've only seen one of the top five movies (Return of the King), so I wondered if the other nominated movies were worth watching (Lost in Translation, Seabiscuit, etc.) I think The Last Samurai and Big Fish should have been nominated for more awards, though. What are your opinions :?:

I'm not of much help here... I don't seem to get out much -- let alone to the movies... I look forward to hearing about it though

Yup, Lindy Quest. It's sad and I'm hopeless. Return of the King is the only one I've seen,as well. Oh well. 2004 is my year to go to the movies. 8)

Well they were movies that were released over the course of a YEAR. :) It isn't like they all came out at once. Personally, I really loved Seabiscuit...but alas, despite a decent number of nominations...I don't think they will get anything major.
Honestly, if you saw Lord of the Rings...I think that pretty much covers it. As the final edition of the trilogy...I think it will finally rack up some wins. They've been holding out to see how the movies progressed and ended...now will be the time to award it. I also think that one trilogy will become a much loved classic to be watched for generations...kind of like Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, and the original three Star Wars.

I still haven't seen Lord of the Rings. I saw half of Pirates of the Caribean. It was a good movie, but I fell asleep, which is not uncommon because we start watching at midnight a lot of times. My wife says she would watch it again if we rent it.

Pirates is a good picture, wish I could have seen it on the big screen. I enjoyed all of the LOTR movies, but my favorite was probably The Two Towers. I especially LOVE the extended version. I heard that the extended version of ROTK will be about 40 minutes longer...wow! I have some friends who went to the marathon: all three movies in one day. Don't know if I could sit that long! :D
The only other movie that really stood out for me this year was Finding Nemo. I wasn't too excited about it at first, but it turned out to be great. Most of the other 2003 movies I saw (Love, Actually, Cold Creek Manor, etc.) were disappointing. Oh well... :?
