I've seen that clip before - goregous.

Have heard that Allan's competition dancing was largely lead/follow as he wasn't all that great at memorizing routines. Is that true?

Very beautiful routine. I don't think she did a dress rehearsal though. I felt sorry for her trying to keep her dress down. But if I had legs like that, I probably wouldn't have bothered!

A whole routine of basic rumba routines performed at the highest level - just brilliant! You don't see this type of dancing these days. Routines are all too often "acrobatic" looking. Vibeke is a wonderful teacher as well.

I have a video tape of Vibeke dancing with Paul Killick (she danced with him after Allen Tornsberg). Her Rumba was and is the most beautiful rumba I have ever seen, and I've just about seen them all.

DJ, would it be possible for you to somehow upload that online?? I agree with you - Vibeke is/was one of the very few women who understands the man-woman relationship in dancing.

I'll see what I can do about that, but it will take a while, as I am in the middle of a long process of moving. Basically, I am in NYC and the tapes are in NH.
I actually have more than one set of their dancing. One was a competition, probably Miami. They were featured a lot in that competition. The other set is a complete 5-dance routine (I think I am missing the jive, though), which is the showcase they performed at the Heritage around 1998. That's the Rumba I was thinking of as "the most beautiful I ever saw".

Oops, duplicate post.

I love that it's flowing and sensual. So much rumba I see now seems too sharp and hard.

Is it something you record or something you bought? I will be interested in watching it too. I've heard so much about her but there are not many clips to show her dancing.

Did Heritage used to have more shows and publish the videos? I've seen one video also at Heritage where Paul Killick was dancing with Oksana Nikiforova, although she was going by Oksana Forova at the time. Some top standard couples were in the show, too. According to dancesportinfo, Paul & Oksana were partners from 1994-96. So if Paul & Vibeke are in a show at Heritage in 1998 or so, where are these videos stockpiled and how can we get them?

I heard she lost her luggage and it was the only dress she had.

There are so few dancers today that are physically THAT connected... it is beautiful to watch:) Lovely to see the lead & follow, waiting for and watching each other... very simple beauty...

She is such an amazing dancer (and coach!). Vibeke and Allen are also very famous for their Paso.
