View Full Version : Dance "License Plates?"

Our state is one of the ones that requires license plates only on the rear of the car. This leave the license plate holder on the front of the car free for decorative or novelty plates. For example, some car owners put a plate up front that displays the logo of their favorite institution of higher education. Some put on a plate with a faith reference. I think it would be cool to have a front plate that has a ballroom dance reference ("I rather be dancing?") but have not seen anything like that available anywhere. Please reply if you know of any source for such a thing.

I wonder if you can tell them what you want on it? I've never thought to ask that myself. I know in one of our offices that they have designs all over one wall, but I never cared to change mine. But that would be fun though! ;)

The point of decorative/novelty plates is that you can put whatever you want on it. OP was not asking about legitimate plates. Haven't seen a genuine WTVFQ plate, but have seen BALLRM. A cat fancier acquaintance of mine has "XXCATSXX" (we joke that it says "Cat Sex":p). For the fake/fun plates, there are plenty of companies who will print them for you.

On the CafePress website, they have a "I'd rather be dancing" plate there.

Now the question is, where can I find a ballroom dance Christmas ornament??

Just to make myself more clear --

What I'm looking for is not an "official" license plate.

Those of you who live in states that require official plates on the front of your vehicles might not realize this, but people make things that look like license plates (same shape and size, same mounting holes) but that are not real plates. In my state, people put these "fake" plates on their front bumpers, because my state does not issue official plates for the front bumper.

So, I'm not looking to buy an official vanity plate (like Joe's), but a commercially made "fake" plate. And I'd like a complete plate, not just a plate frame.

Thanks for your ideas, though!

They have some dance ornaments over on Amazon, but they don't really say Ballroom or Latin on them. An idea would be to maybe get one engraved? ;)

Our dance studio has a huge atrium in front with a floor-to-ceiling window. They have a large Christmas tree and have several ballroom ornaments of couples in various poses. I have no clue where they got them from, but I'll try to remember to ask.

As far as the plate, at CafePress you can custom design anything there.

Here's a site where you can get a plate laser engraved:
http:// w w w .autoplates.com/catalog/custom.php?view=laser

You get to pick the plate background color, the font color, AND you can upload an image, but they can only use up to 4 colors, so a silhouette of a dancing could would look pretty cool. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

Too bad my state requires 2 plates :p
