Saw in on TinyPic and I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of dancing this is. It looked like a jive at first, but yeah, don't think so xD Maybe a swing dance or a really weird line dance?

Based on what little experience I have, I'd guess that this is acrobatic rock 'n' roll.

Honestly, I have no idea - elements of jive, swing, folk dance, theatre arts, can can :p
Thanks for pointing it out though emily! Oh, and I don't think I'll be taking it up any time soon.... (can't find a guy strong enough ;))

I'd second the guess for Acrobatic Rock n Roll. Really only done in Europe. This does not strike me as the best example of it, though.

WOW! I loved psuedo Flare move the one couple did at the end. I am going to try that at my dance studio next week haha.

It is Acrobatic Rock'n'Roll.
A better example would be:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxT57nxJ-xQ
I haven't done it for 15 years, but the rules used to be:
- 1 minute 'footwork' (ie no acrobatics) with music about 200bpm.
- 2 minutes acrobatics - music about 190 bpm. 8 acrobatic moves, with at least 2 being at continuous & repeated 3 times. You can also do a finishing lift at the end.
It used to be centered in western europe (France/Germany/Switzerland/Italy) but then spread to eastern europe.
It is a purely competitive dance - you don't do it socially. Everything is choreographed, and the competitors treat it very much as a sport. It is popular with ex-gymnasts...

David: Thanks for that link - thats one amazing dance and, as you say, a much better example. Sort of Nadia Comaneci does swing!

.
Not even that-- it looks like it has been made up with steps from several dances .

Meh, it's a show dance, that's what it's all about.
