:?: What? Why? Are they just going to make everything bigger? or start making people but two?

Hi SK. According to the news clip, they're trying to streamline they're menu and make it more "healthy". All I ask it that they do not touch the fries. After my 6-month deprivation diet, I'm headed that way. :nope:

I find even the medium fries to be rather large, but I think they should leave super size alone. If people want to clog their arteries for only a dollar (or whatever it costs) more, who is McDonald's to stop them?

McDonald's should just add some healthier choices to their menu, and let the folks who want giant portions have them, I think. I have to say that, back when I was on Weight Watchers, McDonalds was the only fast food place I couldn't go to. There was nothing on the menu even remotely approaching my points range. Everywhere else had something reasonable in nutritional value, just not McDonalds. Hmm.

Yeah, all kidding aside. They have added some very "healthy" salads to their menu and instead of frying those apple pies (Greasy apples? Yuch!), they bake them now, instead of ice cream, frozen yogurt. With all these fad/no fad diets out there, they're finally getting the picture. Especially, when it starts to hit their pocketbooks. :D

I'd be happy if it continued to hit their pocketbooks! McDonalds is EVIL

McDonalds needs to get a clue. Even their so-called healthy choices aren't really. They need to stop drowning everything in dressing, mayonnaise, deep fried breading, or cheese.

I'm not sure if McDonalds has nutritional info on their web site, but if not, check out dottisweightlosszone.com for an idea. It has nutrition info for hundreds of restaurants. Worth a look, whether you're dieting or not.

McDonalds makes me ill. :? Seriously, I get an upset stomach when eating there. So, I haven't eaten there in years. If it gets better, maybe I will.

I heard that someone was suing them because "McDonald's didn't tell them" that if they ate 5 burgers a day it was unhealthy? (Or a figure like that)

Oh well

Well, no fast food restaurant is healthy, really. It is really up to the indivual to not use the the "pre-packaged" salad dressing, order the salad without the cheese, etc.....:?

:D Yeah, like McDonald's put a gun to their heads and made them do it. Some people need to take that responsibility pill. You can sue for anything these days. Mind boggling.

This is america, we can sue for being dumb. There is always someone responsible for our stupidity. Back in PR they'd kick you out of court if you were to come up with the dumb idea that you are sueing because the coffee is too hot, or because you gained weight because those 5 burgers you ate...

Back in Puert Rico a couple of years back I was reading the newspaper, anyways, I forget which chain, Mc Ds or Burger Peon, err King, tried to sell their meat to a local company ( I think it was a local company) that makes doog food. Well, their meat didn't pass the standards set by the dog manufacturing company as healthy enough for the dogs, so they decline the offer.  To think that people eat that stuff... Ahhhh

The new McDonalds salads aren't so bad. The shaker salads they used to have, had the dressing already included. Some reasonable (not stellar, but not bad) choices are plain baked potato, chili, side salad with reduced calorie dressing. Even KFC is not all that bad, if you take the skin off the chicken.

And the serving sizes are deceptive. For example, a plain McDonald's hamburger has something like 300 calories. I'm talking the small one. If you add small fries and a small non-diet drink, that's about 800 calories for a lunch that would leave me hungry fifteen minutes later. There's gotta be a better way.

Yeah, this makes me think back to when I lived in Guam years ago. The meat wasn't even beef, it was kangaroo meat. Eeeeeewwwweeee!!! :x I don't know how true that is but ....poor kangaroos.

I know, the kangaroos look cute BUT (and the Australians here will be able to clarify) from recollection, the kangaroos breed like rabbits and are considered pests. So, there are campaigns/attempts to reduce their number each year and what do you do with the carcass? Sell it as meat

As someone once said about being picky about food - What does not kill, fattens

Off topic a bit but funny thought. I saw something on an animal kingdom program where some guy was trying to approach a kangaroo. (Probably just to say hello) and got beat up by the kangaroo, badly. Maybe the kangaroo knew the real deal. Sorry buddy, no kangaroo hamburger will be made here! LOL.

I take back what I said about the salads being not bad. Did you know they have breaded, fried chicken strips in them? It would be so easy to make it healthy by grilling the chicken. Sheesh.

Ta da! I visited dotti (gotta check that web site 8) ) and here's the deal with the salads. Buyer beware. The salads range from a low of 15 calories (side salad) to a high of 450 calories (Del rio salad) without dressing. The dressing range from 40 calories (light balsamic vinaigrette) to 290 calories (ranch). So a salad with dressing could be anywhere from 55 calories to 840 calories or anything in between. It pays to check the nutrition information before you order lunch.

Hmm, I can't recall the last time I ate at McDonalds...probably like the last time I've had a cup of coffee...10 years at least. I've only had fast food a few times in recent years and each time I sorely regretted it.

Besides...there's nothing like buying grass fed, all natural hormone free beef and making your own hamburgers, after having meat like that, there's no way I could eat a fast food burger ever again! :D

Mc D's last year, for the first time since they started, had a net loss on their budget. This is why they're making many changes this year.

On another note, if you take their new slogan "I'm lovin' it", fill in the missing letters: "I am loving it", and rearrange the letters, you get: "ailing vomit" ... coincidence? I think not!

Did you see ads for their new contest? They're randomly giving away $1 million prizes (15, I think) between certain dates. No game pieces. Just be at the right place, at the right time. Hmm. I can see a lot of Big Macs getting eaten in the next few weeks. LOL.

Yeah, that one was stupid... like when they were sued because their coffee was :gasp: hot!

Actually, this was a horrible incident.

The woman's labia was melted. They had been having contests about who could make the coffee the hottest... it wasn't just out of the coffee pot hot, it was roiling boil in a heat resistant cup hot.

The plastic surgery needed to reconstruct it and pain and suffering was only the compensatory judgement, the largest part was for punitive damages.

The details were gruesome.

I stand corrected. There's hot and there's hot... but that is just... well, I don't have the words...

Speaking of Mickey D's. The contest is tomorrow through Sunday, March 5 to 7. Good luck, all.

Random thought: How many dance lessons would $1 million buy? LOL.

1 million divided by 10,000 equals 100.

Meaning 10,000 pairs of shoes at an average of $100 each. That's a lot of shoes!
