I just got this from a friend:

It is with deep sadness and sense of loss that brings me to report the
sudden passing of Wayne Bott. Wayne passed away last night, February 12, of
sudden heart failure.

Volumes could be written about Wayne's love of WCS, his fellow dancers, and
what a great guy he was. Wayne will be missed...his loss leaves a massive
vacuum for all who knew him. Rest in peace, my friend. You will live on in
the hearts, minds and prayers of all who knew you.

Not familiar with him, but condolences to those who did know him and family.

Hi Spitfire.
Wayne and Sharlot Bott are nationally known West Coast Swing dance champions. You have probably seen them dance if you attended any WCS dance conventions. Their website is wayneandsharlot.com if you want to put a face to the name.

So sad when I saw this in my email. I wasn't/ am not personally familiar with the Botts, but I have seen their dancing and the positive affect they have had on our community, through the US Open, coaching of current champs etc.
The swing community, and world, is richer because of Wayne Bott.

I'm not sure how, but I just heard the news about Wayne Bott. I had the pleasure of taking a private with Sharlot and Wayne together (as was their policy).

It was my pleasure to have that opportunity.

It saddens me a great deal to hear this news.

God speed to you Wayne. Sharlot, words are not enough.
Bless both of you.

Tonight I arrived at the Press Box for our weekly class and I was surprised to see my first WCS teacher, Julie, who had moved up north near Fresno recently.

Socializing at the end the classes, I learned that she was there for a funeral. Wayne Bott's. I hadn't realized that he lived in Orange County.
