I absolutely LOVE how these heat lists are formatted: they show the heat number, the heat time, and.... all the other couples who are registered to dance in your heat. I think it's really cool.

Looking forward to the event - there will be several DF-ers there, look forward to meeting up!

Heh, it looks like my ballroom club took a field trip to Vegas to dance the Open Standard :) Congratulations to everyone, and I'll give a particular shout-out to Ivan Parra -- I believe this was his first Championship-level event ever.

Including Sunday's Senior event Turtle, Taba, Jessica, Ivan, Andreas, Jodie, . . . . and there was a Masters event also.

Ivan - sheesh - I was standing next to Larinda and we were watching, cheering, talking - but on the other hand just another event until all of a sudden someone looked familiar-yet-unfamiliar, I looked in the book and saw Ivan dancing in Champ Standard. I couldn't believe it - it seems he just started! He did very well - importantly - looked fully as part of the Champ group. Congratulations!

Mrs. reb says Thank You! She drove (long drive) to coaching this morning already.

Pavlo and Anna were in fine form. We had some friends who are Vegas locals attend the event - normal 1st-time visitor comments, including "isn't she the one from Dancing With The Stars??"

That was an interesting 10 minute tv break in the middle of the comp for the tv interview with Steve Guttenberg - I'm used to the comp-waits-for-no-dancer . . .

Sorry I was away for a while - now on East Coast for competitive analysis and strategy (otherwise called work!) - hopefully the other DFers who were at Vegas can post after they recover . . .

Thought I should also give a shout-out to one of the people (and accomplished pro) working behind the scenes who make some of these comps particularly enjoyable - Mark Weiss (Frogmouth) - his lighting, sound, and other cool stuff transformed this ballroom into a really nice setting - a significant improvement over the previous year.

I agree Reb.Mark does an unbelievable amount of work.At Supershag we do a lot of production work which often involves lighting so when I spoke to mark I could not believe how competitive he was with his pricingI really hope the dance business realises what a great service this guy offers.

How was Max and Beata's show?

How was Max and Beata's show?
Simple answer: Awesome! :cool:

The 1st number was a charlie chaplin number. What stood out for me was the way Max kept up the chaplin walk throughout the number (kind of like David Hamilton's 'director' who kept directing while Olga danced throughout the entire number) - instead of merely being an intro/prop - even though in both cases I was itching to see them 'dance' more - very artistic.

I'm interested to hear others impressions - those around me were loving it!

Maybe I am dense but I didn't quite get the symbolism of their second number: Max's long entry with the Middle Eastern(?) head gear, the attempt to portray water and air?

Yeah, they certainly are artists - we could stare at the same painting and it would mean different things, except that their dance is too quickly over for me to think that fast!

Their jive number - it seemed Beata was a coach? - she had the whistle!
