Inspired by SDsalsaguy wearing a purple shirt for his competition this weekend, and that he has that "delightful" purple suit  do you find that you have certain colours you always seem to wear/buy/decorate with? Which ones? Any particular reason?
I used to wear a lot of black, because I thought it was "chic, simple, day to evening wear" etc etc, until one day a neighbour asked me if I was in "mourning" because whenever they saw me, I was in black/dark clothes. That was like an eye opener because it made me realise that I was in a "low period" of my life (and I was expressing it subconciously).
Now, I have gone the other way and surround myself in white (so much quicker to get a machine load of white tops/sheets/towels  ) with the occassional "colour" including, dare I say it, black thrown in (the combination, not the washing machine) :D

I go with a lot of blacks myself... I have a few white shirts, but I've found I look better in black.

Black looks good on a lot of people

The shirt in my avatar picture is actually grey, with a blue-grey design on it that I'm told matches my eyes well, and so looks really good on me. In the lighting on the picture it looks nice and black though :)

I buy a lot of black too, which I guess is pretty conventional for salsa dancers. I think I look good in black though (as do many people). I also go for black and brown together, and autumn/earth tones (olive, rust, mustard yellow), though I don't often find clothes that are quite the right shade of those. I like shirts that from a distance just look like a solid dark color, but when you get close up they have some other sort of pattern as well. I like them, but at the moment I only really have one that fits that description.
I tend to stay away from wearing primary colors (except maybe blue?) and bright colors in general. I do wear white shirts often enough, but usually just out of convenience, not because it's what I really prefer to be wearing.

I try to buy coloured skirts, but all you can get in a decent dancing skirt is black! Aaaarrrggghhhh!
Love colours myself. Purple, red, blue are my main colours with a white, cream or black shirt when I'm wearing coloured pants or skirt.

Great topic, Pacion! You've called the fashion designer (my former life) in me to come out & play  .........

I can totally relate. I went through such period around/after the death of my Grandma (amongst other thing at the time). Previously, I was forever in bright tropical florals  (VERY salsa friendly) that only I can get away with 8) !
Now, I have gone the other way and surround myself in white :D
I am in white a lot these days. The Cuban Santaria look.
Still love black, but I go for lace/texture/sheer factor.....sexy (but classy) stuff.
Red. I look good in red.
Still get away with floral....so that hasn't changed.
Otherwise I love the whole street/surf palette (khaki, olive, chocolate, dirty denim) & designs.

I tend to decorate and wear stuff that is maroon-burgandy-deep red...

Those are my favorite colors, too! I must have at least a quarter of my wardrobe in those shades, as well as towels, rugs, sheets, etc... There's something just so comforting about a deep, rich burgandy. In my last house I chose that as the color for my carpet. Some of my family members thought it made the house too dark, but I thought it looked great, especially w/ cream colored furniture.
Other than that, I also like black, dark green, and blue. Surprisingly, I've also found that I look all right in pastel green and burnt orange as well.

 Thanks for the visual
LindyQuest, I like the burgundy/cream mix too. :D
The thing that I find amusing is when you have to select paints - all the various shades/hues and the names   I think that is why I tend to go for "any colour so long as it is white" on the walls philosophy. Easier to clean and match if any repainting needs to be done :D

I am ALL about the yellow these days. Not really sure how it happened, but one day I decided I wanted a yellow car.
Since purchasing my little solar flare (2004 dodge neon SXT), I've gone overboard with a matching jacket (winter and spring), a yellow purse, slippers, and travel bag.
I have to STOP the yellow INSANITY! :D

As long as you don't get the toy dog with matching jacket, like Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blond, I think you will just about be borderline

I like earth tones a lot yet I still have the bolder colors represented in my wardrobe.
I love lavender... it's a shame I don't look good in it though :?

Speaking of yellow, my mother recently painted her guest room yellow (well, yellow on the bottom, a sunflower wallpaper strip going across, and white on top). We were afraid that the yellow would be too overwhelming, but it looks so cute - especially w/ sunflower accents!
