I've been mulling over "fusion" thoughts since this thread:

Now, whilst I can "export" (for want of a better word) a lot of stuff from AT into my other dance forms, I can't really see a way to "import" much from other dance forms into AT - even modern tango.

Is this because I'm a relative beginner at AT? Or does this reflect some fundamental aspect of AT?

Good question. I also find it a lot easier the other way around.

Likewise. I've had my teacher pull any number of non-AT steps into AT, but I don't really see how AT things can be exported.

I've exported a few things on my own, but it was entirely accidental, and really NOT what I was supposed to have been doing. I've found it pretty hard to eliminate AT things when dancing ballroom...some steps included (muscle memory and all that).

I've done both...I would suppose to some degree the things that have been easier to "import" are ones from "smooth" dances (like an adapted continuity box) or ones that don't break the embrace, though sometimes (if I am leading, and we are dancing to fun or Alternative music) then I'll add a little underam turn at a parada/pasada...it's fairly natural to put there.

Exporting Tango to other dances...no problem...I think AT is very adapatable that way...it's leadable, you can adjust the timing to what you need...WCS and Tango is the one we do this most with.
