I had the most unusual experience while out Salsa dancing tonight. On the very first dance I just fell into a zone, every move I wanted to do worked out (well except one!)...and it was the best dance I have had in a long time. After that I danced with a few complete beginners...but then I just felt like that was all I needed for the evening, even though I was only at the club for about 2 hours.

Has anyone every had this happen before? I'm also getting over a bout of bronchitis that I've had for the past few weeks so my energy level is lower than it usually is, but regardless that one dance made my week! :D

All in all, a great night dancing, even though I had little floor time. And hopefully when I'm feeling better, I'll stay out later. :)

Best,

SG

I can very much relate to this SG!

Sometimes I've had my qualty dance(s), see that the floor is just going to get more and more crowded, and just decide to call it a night... not out of frustration but, rather, because I'm already sattisfied and sticking around only tempts the fates for dissapointment.

It can, and does happen :D .

I think being away for a few days increases the chance......it's kinda like the first meal after a fasting (SG, I know you can relate  )!

For me, I tend to get an early salsa fix on a Wednsday, as there are no salsa clubs Mon & Tue in my town.

So I crave the fix on Wed.......

Then we dance Wed right through to Sun.......you can somehow get "desensitized" by Saturday...........

That's just what happened...that first dance was so wonderful...even though the next few were quite bad...it didn't hardly matter!

The dances after that first one just couldn't compare to it, and after all the cliques showed up and crowded the floor...I didnt' feel left out, rather I was satiated and very happy. I sat and watched for a while, then came home in a very good mood.

I'm still glowing from the experience, I'll have to make sure to thank the lady the next time I see her. Come to think of it, she was smiling and laughing after the dance...I think that's the first time that's ever happened to me! :P

God yes! Quality over quantity any day. Last weekend, I was forutneate to dance with three fabulous followers for about an hour. Then the place got crowded and the ladies left en masse. I was just so happy and joyful; I stayed at the club for another hour, but didn't dance. I was in a satiated haze replaying the dances and my emotions, and just letting the Band's music wash over me. I went home and slept like a baby. I think it's worth noting that the followers don't necessarily have to be advanced though. I've just "connected" with some beginner ladies who could just move, and Lord did it feel great! I believe there are all kinds of connections with the whole spectrum of followers. Just this past weekend a lady asked me to dance, and I said my pleasure. One bar into the song and she was bailing, wailing at me "I'm a beginner, I can't do it, I'm sorry." I just told her to relax, feel the music and follow my lead. No crazy patterns, maybe one outside turn, but lots of CBL, cuban motion and just playing and swaying with the music. Man, I remember when I was a beginner and some fabulous ladies took mercy on me. The dance was great, and she was a nice follower, and I told her, next time I see you I will ask you to dance.

Yes indeed, some of my best dances have been with women who have never done Salsa before, but were able to follow my lead and stay on beat. It is an amazing feeling to just be with the music and lead someone who stays with you...and even if you make mistakes, you just flow together with the music and keep on going. :P

I had another dance last night with a "styling queen"...I'm going to make a seperate post about those kinds of experiences. All I can is, thank God most Salsa tunes are only 3-5 minutes!
