I know I'm not the only one to think or try this. I'd like to explore the possibility of incorporating recent hip hop elements into ballroom/latin dances. I know that we often incorporate ballet, and country/western even has its own forum here, so I think it's possible. How would one incorporate recent dance crazes like Walk it Out, Crump, and Crank styles?

I've often imagined replacing Swing's Swivel Steps with Walk It Out steps, which isn't all that strange seeing as the recent dance move is an updated version of the 50's Sugar Foot.

My instructor does hip hop and is incorporating some into a tango/samba routine for us...we started on one piece of it, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it'll all fit together.

I think it's a great idea to mix these styles.

That's really cool, it's like the movie, Take the Lead. I'd like to see how it all turns out if you post any video.
