Unless you're lead and your partner has problem keeping her head back and looking away as she's supposed to. ;) :p

I once had to push my ex-husband's Jeep uphill out of our driveway before a comp. Something was wrong with it and I couldn't get it to start, and he had parked me in but had gone bike riding and wasn't home to help and I didn't have time to wait for AAA.

I'm not sure how I did it. Adrenaline I guess.

How about not being nervous, I have always been told no nerves no form? My partner and I don't compete have been social dancing in Australia for 2 1/2 years, dance three times a week, minimum of three hours a time. Have been told that competitions are not always fair and the best couple does not necessarily win. We dance our best every time we are on the floor but still have fun! Recently we were in Holland and went 2 hours away from where we were staying to look and buy a tail suit! they said well you are passionate about your dancing why are you not competing? Goes back to the higher question does the best couple win?

I shoveled snow earlier this winter, after a big dump, from 7am -1pm taking a break only to go to the gym (becuase I had an appt with a personal trainer!). Then had a shower and a dance lesson.

Not recommended.

Fortunately the winter didn't continue to be that bad...if it had I'd be ready to get a job digging ditches in the summer.

I couldn't watch because I was videotaping someone else, but I didn't notice any ill effects...

If it is summer, pay attention to your sunscreen use. I once got a bad sunburn 2 weeks before the comp and as a result had a case of farmer tan, which was nearly impossible to cover with spray tan.

What not to do before a comp... No Nerves No Form?

:?: Isn't eciding to have 'no nerves' is a bit like deciding not to have a headache? I decide that every comp - and I get both nerves AND a headache...

Have a nice romantic evening by the river, only to wake up the next morning with dozens of mosquito bites. ("Now recalling couples 112, 148, 212 and, er, the one with the chicken pox ...")

Actually, I take one the night before every comp - looses an inch round the middle... There again, don't take one any later!!!

Oh, ouch and oh no. Have to be careful on this thread - some of these are real painful memories, eh?

There's one couple I know that I am sure also to pair taekwondo and kick boxing as ballroom ancilliary skills...

I've been progressively decreasing my ski binding tensions for the last year. I'd rather find myself a hundred feet downhill from my skis than sprain a leg.

Eat food that has been in the fridge for too long.
Maccas for breakfast is just as bad.

Lol....In California, my partner got such a bad sunburn two days before the comp! We couldn't even practice as he couldn't even wear clothes let alone be touched....or grabbed....lol

Funny now, wasn't so funny then! :D
