Just thought I would share this little tip I learnt yesterday while practicing my alemana turns (3 in sequence).......

It is NOT a good idea to practice turns barefoot on carpet. You get friction burns on your feet!

OW!

My feet were stinging all day

Anyone else done something so silly while practicing??

I was mucking around practising a charleston type movement, and as I do I had to keep going until I got it right. Pulled a muscle in my achilles and had to sit with my foot up for the rest of the day to make sure I could get to class the next day!

Doh!!

Duct tape on the balls of the feet can prevent this. Ask me how I know.

Not quite. One night at belly dance class we were practicing spins on carpet, with many associated complaints. Next time we did that our instructor came along with great wodges of the grey stuff that holds the universe together stuck to her feet. :)

In my neighborhood, we refer to this as "custom ballet slippers" :)
