What would be a good reason to change constumes within a same heat for different rounds?

Do you mean something like the example I'll attempt to provide?
Heat 275: Amateur Gold Latin (C/R)
Quarter through semi - green dress
Final - red dress

I was just wondering about this yesterday! I came up with two theories: 1) fresh, non-sweaty dress and 2) it's fun to wear something special/new for the final. Would love to hear the actual reason, though.
Another thought would be exposure of a dress(s) that the wearer or maker may be trying to sell.

Or just the fun of having two amazing dresses, and wanting to wear both.
<--- is all about the sparkles. :)

Or maybe if you have a dress that you really like, but are worried that it won't be attention-getting enough on a crowded floor, so you save it for the final when the judges have to look at you.
Or maybe if you realize half of the people in the event are wearing the same color as you, and you happen to have another dress with you.

this is the reason I ALWAYS carry two dresses wiht me to a comp (if I have more than one available)
and another reason is "if something happens".

I had heard that if you did well in the first heat its a good idea to use the same outfit so that the judges can find you easily. They may be looking for the terrific girl in the red dress..... :o

I have heard this too. I have heard that judges hate costume changes because it's more work for them to figure out who they were looking at before.

This can sometimes work to one's advantage :)
If I'm having a really bad day, I'll sometimes change my dress before the Scholarship events :) Of course, I'll sometimes do this if I'm having a good day, too, simply because I'm in the mood to put something else on :)
Or maybe if you realize half of the people in the event are wearing the same color as you, and you happen to have another dress with you.
And those other people decide to do the same thing and their "spare" dress is the same color as your spare dress! :)

I dream of the day when I will have two fully functional dresses. *sigh*

<hijack>Sort of have that luxury for the first time. I wanted to try changing dresses for finals, but the comp in which I was participating was not the most organised, and I didn't know if I would have time to change without missing my round. As it turned out, there was enough time, but I didn't know, so I kept wearing the first dress (still nice, though!!).</hijack>
