So here's a question for you. How has dancing changed your social life? Have you become more popular? Less? Has your personality changed at all?
I find that dancing has let loose my self confident and sociable side, even more than before.
Anybody else see a difference?

Definitely changed my social life. Hang out with a greater variety of people now. :)

Yes, and not only my social life, but it has contributed to my work life.
I make regular "oral presentations" to a minimum of 15 elected officials, and this can be unnerving, as they can make or break issues that deals with the funding that our agency provides.
I began this career before I started learning the "structured" dancing that I do now, and I was always nervous about going before the Board.
Since learning to dance, and especially since competiting, I no longer am nervous, nor fear those presentations. Quite the contrary, I am eager to make presentations, and am always myself . . .

Yup, both social and work.
Can't stay awake at work. My friends all feel betrayed and forsaken by this stupid salsa thing, but they don't get to hold half naked beautiful women all night long.... The tradeoffs, the tradeoffs...

As far as my own individuality is concerned dancing hasn't changed that, but as far as my social life goes it gave me a different group of people with whom to mingle and this is certainly a very positive experience. :D

Yes, it changed my life entirely and expanded my social circles as well. It also allows me to release my true self and express it on the dancefloor.
I admit that I have been kinda ignoring my non-dancing friends for sometime, but I also try to make time for them as well. I also try not to discuss my newfound passion in front of my co-workers because they'd think that dancing's my priority.
It was also through dancing that I got my very first kiss. :bouncy:

No not really, just more schizophrenic: on the dance floor I'm confident and skilled. I shocked one friend who had known me for years when she saw the way danced - she couldn't believe I could be so confident. Off it I'm still the same introverted, anti-social recluse. Still have nothing to say.

So here's a question for you. How has dancing changed your social life?
Before I started dancing I was married, in grad school, and raising a small child. I'm now single, working a real job, and I only see my child occassionally. My social life is incredibly different, but maybe due to other life changes?
Have you become more popular? Less?
I'm not good at judging popularity. I don't think I'm popular now, and I know that I wasn't in high school. However, there are certain people who smile when they see me, so if that's a mark of popularity than I guess I'm more popular now than I once was.
Has your personality changed at all?
I'm more outgoing and confident, that is for certain!
I admit that I have been kinda ignoring my non-dancing friends for sometime,
You have non-dancing friends? Other than coworkers, I almost never talk to people who aren't dancers. Of course that has a lot to do with moving back and forth across the country, and loosing track of old friends. I should be better about that, shouldn't I?
