There is a programme on just now on Sean Connery. Amazing story. He has a younger brother that has the same balding patch

Apparently, he was asked to do the screen test for James Bond, refused and walked out of the room  The story goes that the directors or producers (didn't quite catch that) looked out the window, saw Sean Connery walking down the street and said "That's our guy!" The narrator said "quote* "his panther like grace" *unquote* was exactly what they were looking for

First James Bond movie = Oct 6th 1962 = Dr No (I wasn't even a glint in my father's eye as yet  )

PS. Movie trivia - did you know that he wore a tupee in Dr No   That guy is still yummy, sigh, some 42 years on :bouncy:

I wasn't a twinkle in Daddy's eye yet, either (american version of same expression LOL).

But that guy was, is and always will be a hottie! Mwah! :kissme:

Definitely "From Russia With Love." The best of the Bond flicks, I mean. Usually there's a divide between "Goldfinger" and "From Russia With Love" and just for the record, I'm on the "Russia" side. Lotte Lenya is perfect as Rosa Klebb. And Robert Shaw is the most sinister, dangerous villain Bond ever faces. But what's truly great is that Bond thinks his way out of the problem using the tools at hand--the contents of his special briefcase, a bunch of gold sovereigns, an exploding cannister of tear gas, and a little knife.

And watch Connery's very human performance when Robert Shaw has him on his knees and tells him "The first bullet won't kill you, nor the second, not even the third. None of them are going to kill you until you crawl over here and kiss my foot." Watch Connery's eyes. He thinks about it, just for a second.

Also, you get to find out Q's actual name in this film. But I won't say where....

Okay, now that I've revealed my geek nature, I'm signing out!

That sounds great! I don't think I've ever seen that one. But any movie that can inspire people to memorize lines, is worth seeing at least once. (And just to let you in on a secret, there are plenty of us geeks around. LOL)
