Hi folks!

It's on ...

Kristi and Marc were given 10-9-10.

Len was correct, still not enough from Krisiti emotionally. She made a decent effort with this, and yet it seemed a bit stiff in places. Also, Ballas seemed to be slightly off the beat in maybe three places which naturally draws his partner off as well.

Not worthy of a 10 yet. :nope:

Just when I thought the music was getting better this season; what the heck was that they played for Kristi and Mark's Paso? It was so distracting, I could hardly pay attention to the dancing.

Priscilla danced well, seemed off balance in a couple of places, and Louis' choreography was very good again. This performance seemed close to Krisiti's.

Judges gave 7-7-8. And both Carrie and Len called them on a lift. Oh, and there haven't been others this season. Here we go again.

Ayuh, totally pitiful music.

If they could just use real Pase Doble all the time to this show, then the audience could actually learn what this style is really like.

Adam on a unicycle ... ... now that ought to go down as one of the more .. uh ... unique ... moves in DWTS history. Not sure it was dance, although his dancing wasn't as bad as it has been. He bobbled in a few places, and didn't quite get much of the Pase Doble sharpness.

Adam was given 6-7-6.

Oh, and by the way, Adam looked like he lifted Julianne. ;)

Mario's dancing looked like he usually does ... rushed. The music didn't help.

Oh, and did I see two lifts of Karina?

Missed Marlee's scores ... anyone?

She did ok, but I wasn't completely entralled by it like Carrie Ann.

Mario did pretty well IN SPITE of the awful music. Bruno seemed to recognize that when he said Mario took modern music and gave it a Spanish flavor (if I understood correctly what Bruno said.)

Nice V. Waltz for Jason! Too bad the stumble.

Scored by judges ... 10-9-10. What about the stumble.

By the way, Edyta's dress, wow. :raisebro:

Shannon did very well! This might actually deserve a 10.

Shannon got 9-10-9.

Marissa got 8-8-8, and she really did do a decent job tonight.

I just really dont see what got Carrie Ann all choked up about Marlee's VW. To me it was just ok and it didnt look smooth or fluid like Jason's and Shannon's. I dont get her sometimes.

Even though I dont like him, I still thought that Adam should have been scored higher. The beginning WAS stupid, but hey, he actually looked like he was putting 100% into his dance instead of his usual 75%. He looked much better than usual. But do they reward him with a decent score? Nope! They give him the worse scores of the night. I think when someone shows improvement, the scores should reflect that and no stay the same or go lower. But thats just me... :)

Marissa DID do better tonight. Mostly because Tony actually stopped babying her and gave her hard choreography. What killed me was that he was saying it was choreography he would only give a pro. Um, Louis and some of the others give that same type of choreography to THEIR stars sometimes. Perhaps maybe now Tony will get the picture and realize thats what he should have been doing all along? I hope so...

Mario wasnt great but he wasnt as bad as his scores seemed to indicate. This is the second week that I've thought they scored him too low. Not saying he did great or anything, just that I thought his scores should have been a little higher.

I dont really like Cristian, but I have to say that he and Cheryl looked really hot together in their black vinyl outfits. Was it just me or did she get her foot caught up in his cape thing once? And the energy/intensity was high from him. He seemed to really get into it (note the periodic shouts).

I have to say that my fav dances of the night were Jason's and Shannon Elizabeth's. Partly because of the choreography and party because Edyta and Derek looked so great..so elegant and in character with the dance. Fabian to me, while he looks fantastic doing the rhythm dances(of course that's his specialty so it makes sense), just didnt look right/comfortable dancing VW which may have been why I didnt really like Marlee's dance. And please tell me Mark Ballas doesnt help pick out his own clothes. That crazy colored suit last week and this week his full out matador outfit....not really digging either one of them, though I do think he's a fantastic dancer. I love to watch him dance with Julianne and Derek. They have an energy about them when they dance that is quite special.

I really hope so. Tony has been playing it safe for too long. Did you notice Carrie Ann trying to bait him into saying something before she offered her critique? I wonder if she caught him about say something or mumbling. ;)

Agree about Cheryl and Cristián looking hot. At times I was distracted by both of their outfits. I did like the energy he put into the dance and the way he attacked the routine.

I kept looking at Cristian's big black raincoat and thinking "goth flasher". I was also kind of put off by the yelling.

I can't seem to download it here, as I am pretty null technically, (OK, totally null)but in this week's New Yorker magazine, dance critic Joan Aocella takes on Dancing With the Stars. I knew she would be a snob about the whole world of competitive ballroom, let alone this show, and she is, but it is worth reading. It is available online at www.newyorker.com

Haha!!!!

That's a perfect description of it.

I was happy with who was voted off tonight. Although was it me or did he randomly seem nicer after he found out he was leaving??

I spaced last night and forgot the results show was on. Did any pros dance? Who were the little kids? Are videos up anywhere?

Tony, Edyta, Kym and Fabian danced during Sheryl Crow's first set and then Delyan Terziev & Boriana Deltcheva danced during the second song.

I liked the samba a little better. But the paso doble couple won the judges' votes 2-1 (Len picked the samba couple).

Next week, Rumba and Samba! They've never done those dances before, except maybe one rumba long ago. Two of my favorite dances, yay!

Does anyone here know for sure if the pros on DWTS get any outside help with choreography...or not?

Some of the routines look amazing, and with the time constraints they have, I wouldn't mind if they get some help. I actually think it's likely that they do, especially for some of the younger pros.

In "So You Think You Can Dance", all the choreographers have assistants and they don't try to hide that fact. Why is DWTS trying to hide it?

Dunno to what extent they use outside help, but I do know that you tend to see the same moves from time to time. Not that I blame them in some instances, but it can be disheartening to see the same routine danced to a different song. And some Pros have these "signature" moves that get um, overused.

Didn't TMZ or one of the other entertainment magazines cover that as a "scandal" a few weeks ago?

More flash? Better ratings somehow? Unlike ABC (America's Ballroom Challenge) ABC.com is in it for the money and only the money.

Because if someone gets nominated for an Emmy for choreography it SHOULD BE their choreography

I would bet that when they sign up for these things they tentatively map out some routines before they even meet their 'stars', then adjust as the ability level and song choice become known.

In Pro-Am it is very common to see dancers, in smooth or standard expecially, dancing similar elements in their routines so they don't have to reinvent the wheel three times over. It can look very repetitive for the viewing audience, but it's legal.

Tony was taken to the hospital but should be OK Monday:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24053136

Are injuries really that commonplace in ballroom dancing? Cheryl, Mark, Karina, Derek, and now Tony have all been injured the last few months.

If I take up ballroom dancing, should I expect frequent trips to the hospital?

I think only all pro dance numbers are nominated for emmys.

No. Injuries are common only if you dance many, many hours.
