IN MID AUGUST, I JUST STARTED TO GO ON THE ATKINS. I LOVE DANCING AND ENJOY IT. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MY WEIGHT, IT WAS A PROBLEM. WHEN I RE-STARTED TAE-BO AND THE DIET. I FINALLY GOT RESULTS. BUT THEN I HAD AN IDEA FOR A FUN WORKOUT. ONCE I FINISH THE VIDEO WORKOUT, I TOOK ANOTHER STEP AND DECIDED TO USE BACHATA MUSIC WITH TAE-BO. MY RESULTS HAVE IMPROVED. POUND BY POUND AND I KEPT DROPPING PANT SIZES. I WANTED TO USE SALSA FOR MY ADVANCED TAE-BO, BUT THE RHYTHM WAS DIFFERENT. I WAS ANXIOUS TO LEARN A DANCE THAT ONLY A FEW CLUBS ARE USING, AND THAT IS THE CUMBIA DANCE. I HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE THE ULTIMATE TEST AFTER A RECENT CUMBIA LESSON. AFTER TAKING THE CUMBIA BASICS, I HAVE MIX IT UP WITH MY TAE-BO. AND BOY, IT REALLY GOT ME PUMPING BIG TIME. AND THEN THE CD BURNIG BEGIN WHEN I PURCHASED VARIOUS CUMBIA CDS. I AM CURRENTLY AT 180 FROM 250+. THE CUMBIA HAS TO LIVE AND HAS TO BE TAUGHT. DON'T LET THE CUMBIA DANCE PERISH.

LOL! I love those dance/martial arts crossovers. My own teacher is a fabulous rhythm dancer, but I hadn't been with her very long before she started asking about how to fight. So I showed her a simple down block in tae kwon do--and she couldn't get it! Because she had so much muscle memory with the Latin motion that she kept twisting her hips the wrong way and couldn't get square in the front! "So," I told her, "now you know how I feel when you're trying to get me to work my hips!"

Another one of my former teachers has taken up kick boxing as an aerobic exercise, but she refuses to spar with me. It's probably a good thing in the long run, because she's one of the most balanced and flexible people I've ever seen and if I started showing her some serious techniques, she would no doubt be able to clean my clock. Gotta keep an edge somehow!

Anyway, welcome, and congratulations on your exercise and diet regimen!

Cheers,

Genesius

Welcome to df tae-cumbia!! :) Glad to have you with us! :D Cumbia is definitely something I plan to be doing more of, so I'm happy to see that there is another df member who is good at it. I've never mixed dancing and martial arts, though I've mixed dance styles in one song.

Like your new avatar SK!! :)

I LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME IN THE DF. JUST RECENTLY I HAD THE PRIVILEDGE TO SEND BILLY BLANKS MY BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS OF MYSELF AND TOLD HIM ABOUT MY TESTIMONIAL AND HE GOT A BONUS. A PERSONALIZED CD THAT I HAVE BURNED, HE HAS 1 AND I HAVE 1 AND THEN I HAVE BURNED 2 MORE CUMBIA CDS. ALL I WISH THAT ANY DF MEMBER WHO IS USING TAE-BO TO CONVINCE BILLY TO MAKE HIS NEXT WORKOUT LIBRARY WITH TROPICAL SALSA, MERNGUE, BACHATA,AND CUMBIA MUSIC. MY CD'S HAVE A THROW-BACK BECAUSE IN THE END OF THE SONG THERE IS A 7 TO 10 SECOND PAUSE BEFORE THE NEXT SONG IS PLAYED. WHAT I DO INSTEAD OF WALK-OUT THE ROUTINE, I DANCE THE CUMBIA BASIC AND WHEN THE EXACT MUSIC LINE WHEN I HEAR THAT CUE, I THEN DO MY NEXT MOVE. THERE WILL BE THE DAY SOMEONE WILL HEAR MY MUSIC WHILE DOING TAE-BO AND HOPE MY MUSIC WILL CROSS PATHS WITH BILLY. WHEN I DO THE VIDEO WORKOUT, I WATCH AND EXERCISE THE MOVE. AT THE END OF THE WORKOUT. I HAVE IT IN MY MIND, AND THEN GO TO MY MUSIC AND USE THE MOVES THAT I SAW ON THE VIDEOS AND USE THEM WITH MY CUMBIA MUSIC. A CUSTOMER WHERE I WORK, TOLD ME THAT SHE HAS A TONY LITTLE "GAZELLE" MACHINE. SHE SAID TO ME WHEN HE FINISHED USING THE VIDEO, SHE WENT THE EXTRA MILE BY USING HER BELLYDANCE MUSIC. AND THAT IS WE HAVE TO CONVINCE BILLY FOR HIS NEXT PROJECT.

So I love Tae Bo so MUCH, and the videos are so upbeat and pumps me up, however alot of the times i like to listen to music when watching it, or even when i try some TAE bo by myself without a video..so i need GREAT music to listen to that will pump me up and keep me going for a long hard workout- my new fave artist that i always listen to is NAID..his new cd is perfect for working out...so upbeat and very unique..if you want to check his stuff out, go to kosmic music . com...
